Sigma 17-35 "DG" opinions? in Nikon Posted July 21, 2004 I was hoping that someone had some experience with the NEW Sigma 17-35 wide angle zoom. I've heard mixed reviews about the original 17-35 (the non-DG lens), but this new lens appear to be constructed much better than the previous model. I was wondering how this one holds up against other lenses in this focal length range. Also, I'm planning on shooting 35mm and was wondering if the DG designation has any negative impact on a 35mm image. Apparently these DG lenses are 'designed for digital SLRs' but they don't seem to mention what happens if you use it on a 35. I'm seriously considering buying this lens, however i'm comparing it against the nikon 20mm 2.8, the sigma 20mm 1.8. I don't intend for this to be a prime vs zoom discussion, but rather i'm just looking for personal experiences with these lenses. Hopefully some of you will have some experience with these and I would appreciate any insight you may have. If you have pictures from these lenses, that would be even cooler (so i could get an idea of image quality of the lenses too). Thanks a ton! Cheers,Damien
