This is one of the first shots I have taken with a new Bronica RF645

camera which I am really liking a lot. Please critique/comment. Its

from a negative scanned with an Epson 3170. I may have gone too far

with the USM and would be interested in people's opinions on this ....

  1. Darren,

I really like this photo. It's the Djemma-Al-Fna right? I'm curious about how you achieved this? Is it just lit by the light from the generators (i.e. no flash?)? I tried taking photos down there at night too by just using 1600 speed film and shooting at f.14 with 1/60 second ... didn't really work very well :-(

  2. Hi,

Thank you all for your comments. They are much appreciated.

Paul, it is an "original" B&W photo so there isn't a colour version to speak of. I think it could have been a pretty good shot in colour too if I had had the opportunity to do so. Maybe next time ...

Oliver, I agree with you about the white boat. Its simply overexposed and burnt out. Maybe with more careful printing I could tone it down a bit but wouldn't you know I went and lost the negative so that's that :-)

Andy, that's an interesting idea but I suppose to make it happen would entail darkening everything else and maybe losing a lot of texture. I might have a go with photoshop nonetheless..

Once again, thank you for your comments !!

Yes Linda it is cropped from the normal 35mm ratio. I just thought it worked better with some of the extraneous stuff from the sides removed. Anyway, thank you for your comment!
  3. Hi,

Would really appreciate comments on above photo. It was shot at a

festival in Morocco that I stumbled upon by chance and very quickly

taken. And yes, those are real guns they were firing with wild

abandon into the air ... though not real bullets (I think).
