  1. What does "Overpriced" mean, anyway? When I hear this term used, it seems to be used in place of "I wish it was cheaper", or "I'm not prepared to pay that much for it". Folks talk as if there's some price that an item "should" sell for. But there isn't. The price is only high or low, relative to some potential purchaser, and not all potential purchasers are the same.

When you say something is overpriced, you're making a statement about yourself, not about the item.

  2. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Select.

It's not a photography magazine per se, yet it contains nothing but the best work from talented commercial/fashion photographers from around the world. Gorgeous reproduction, and chock full of great photos.

  3. I have no problem with the shutter lag. It's not as fast as an M, but I can't say I've ever missed a shot because of it. Much faster than a digicam. There's no DX override, but there is an easy to use exposure compensation control. I always shoot Provia 400F in this camera, and the exposure compensation gives me plenty of control. I've never shot conventional B&W in it. I totally love this camera, and don't want to swap it for anything.
  4. I bought PS 4 on ebay, from the registered owner. He transferred the license to me, and then I upgraded it to PS7. Now I can upgrade that to CS.

At the time, there were a number of sellers on ebay offering deals like this. They tended to shop around for auctions when companies went out of business, etc. or departments got closed, and buy up the licences for exactly this purpose. If they're still doing it, it's a good cheap legal way to get a full PS licence.

Just make sure the seller can transfer the registration to you. Adobe has a form you can download for this purpose.

  5. I don't get it. Cameras and optical systems have long been able to surpass the human eye in various ways - e.g. microscopy, spy cameras, x ray cameras, etc. And the human visual system has never been surpassed in other ways - e.g. white balance, feature extraction, object recognition etc. So what? What follows from that, or the eye chart thing? Beats me.
