I'm with that guy above, in the Seattle area it seems that the ebay sellers either wipe out the stock of old cameras before anyone can get them, or the prices are so high I might as well buy them off of ebay. The only deals I've ever found have been at garage sales, where I did once get a almost mint Canonet QL-17 GIII for about $10 and a black bodied Minolta XD for about $20...

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but you really should publish a book with some of these and your artful prose! Great stuff...

Gene, when did you start posting? If you click on the Uncategorized link on the right hand side of the screen, it will show all postings to the Classic Camera forum, which was started in 2003.

I picked up a Geiss modified C-4 a few years ago and was so happy with myself that I could make a couple of bucks on eBay with it, I sold it off... Wish I had kept it!

Happened to me once with my Rebel XTI when I was on vacation. One of my sons fiddled around with my camera when I wasn't looking and somehow reset the white balance. Good thing I shot everything in RAW!

Which ones have the better bellows? I have a couple of Isolettes, one with a perfect Solinar, but the bellows have pinholes up and down them. I just hate to pay more for new bellows than three cameras combined...

I really like the photos that Luis and Gene have posted over the past few weeks
from Minh modified cameras. Can someone give me some camera models, lenses and
such? I like the 616 cameras. Are there some with better bellows? Any help would
be appreciated so I don't waste too much time watching eBay...

OK, I must have one of these cameras...

What camera did you use?
-
Yes, I meant just the #59 cartridge and select greyscale mode. I did an experiment with both cartridges in and it does shot out some color ink (I scanned at 2400dpi on my flatbed scanner). I used Ilford papers also and the HP papers were better IMHO.
It's all a moot point for me now because I haven't turn that printer on in two year...
-
I had one a while back and it did a great job printing, but only on HP papers. I seem to remember doing a test with the #59 cartridge only and it worked, but it's been a few years...

Get yourself a Daylab machine, shoot regular 35mm film on your trip and then use the Daylab when you get back to do your Polaroid transfers...

It might be that someone has stolen his account and has made up all these listings. If you notice, no matter what the item, the prices are similar. I got scammed this way many years ago on eBay...

Check out www.toycameras.com for all old (and new) cameras that are Holga like. Kodak Brownies can be very holga-like...
-
Not sure how good your images will be, probably won't get much of the Holga effect considering that the lens is (barely) meant to cover 120 film, whereas you are most likely trying to cover an APS sized sensor. All the vignetting effect will be lost. Probably better to get a Lensbaby.

Many people hack some of the better models, especially the 250, 350/360 models. Since they are essentially free, it's up to you. Some convert to 120 or medium format. Search the archives here for some ideas.

I did the same as you, bought a dimage 7 for IR work. The package was not complete, but I don't use the Minolta software. I just take out the CF card and download directly to my hard drive and CS2 to open the RAW files. I haven't had a real need for the software... YMMV...

Polaroid roll films haven't been made in decades. It's highly unlikely that Porters would have any to sell...
I think what you want is something that Patrick Dempsey did a while back. Check out this old post: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00E9Rg&tag= or search here on photo.net for "polaroid conversions"

I don't have experience with the G6, but it does have RAW and a hot shoe. I just bought a A620 as my carry everywhere camera and it does a great job doing that. It sure beats carrying around a DSLR for snapshots of the family and that kind of stuff. Oh, and around $200 right now, you can't beat the price...
-
What you need is a Wocaroid, the glass lens equivalent of a Holga(roid).

Hey, if Seagull is going to make a digital camera from the old Minolta
mount, why not a digital FD? Can't be that hard now...

In a weird twist of fate, my wife went on a 3 week trip to India in like 1998 to tour around and see places that were of particular interest to women and Zana Briski was on the same trip. I think it was her 2nd trip to India at this point and hadn't connected with the brothels yet. My wife was moved enough to order 3 photographs from her when she got back. Flash forward about 7 years and we see that she has won an academy award for a documentary she shot... In the beginning of the movie she shows some of her photography and we noticed that we have at least two of the same prints shown. Anyways, it was a great movie!
