  1. So the wedding was nice and thought I would post a couple. Since I was the officiant They got some one to do the ceremony and group stuff. Whew, wondered how that would work. The fist is the venue, shot the night before. The third is bride with the mothers.

  2. Hi, Some interesting thoughts. Really appreciate all the help. I just recently bought the 24-70 2.8. I have some other lens but having rented it a couple of times felt confident I could crop and still have enough for good prints. I just ordered the 70-200 2.8 as well for some shots. I have been doing scenic and little birds for a long time. People not so much, fun stuff mostly. I really need to watch cutting off arm, hands and head tops. Thanks for the help, I need all I can get.
  3. I agree with William. Show more of your subjects. The last picture shows 50% of them and 50% of a tree stump. I am not sure of the importance of the tree or the beauty. The first picture the girl has her eyes closed. In any case I don't want to sound hard on you. It's always a little rusty when coming back to photography after some time off. keep practicing as you are only as good as your last job.

Actually the tree is very important. It is where she learned to swing. She had many a picnic with her dolls or friends shaded by that old tree. Sadly it is not going to around much long. The base is rotting.

  4. Well grand daughter getting married. I've done some weddings but it's been a while. So they wanted a few for announcements and stuff. Needed the practice before the big day.

  5. Hi, I am new to Mamiya but couldn't find an answer using search. I purchased a

Pro TL that came with a 220 back. I then got a 120. The only difference I can see

is the film holder. Couldn't find anymarking or other reference on the back to

indicate it as a 120 or 220. Are they the same or is there a difference.

    Thanks Rick

  6. Hi,

Don't rule out the Sigma's. The SD10 is a little under the Canon 10D and the older Sigma SD9 is about the price of the Rebel. It may go against the tide but the images are very good. The choice of lenses are growing, the SD10 takes great night pictures and I suspect the camera line will be around for a long time. If you go to DP Review take a couple of minutes to check them out.

  7. Hi again,

Got to thinking and just wanted to express thanks to this site. A lot of places flame Sigma and I'm sure they like what they have but not everyone makes the same selections. I guess I can be defencive at times but usually I'm proactive (job and all). Anyway this HAS to be the most helpful and friendly site I know. Thanks again.

  8. Hi,

I looked real close between a 10D and SD10 and ended up ordering a Sigma. I'm not pixel counter and just liked the way the pictures looked. I've read a lot about the apples to oranges thing and truthfully came the conclusion it is a matter of preference. I don't feel lenses will a problem as Sigma makes some very nice glass and think they will improve as the industry evolves. I liked the Fovoen sensor and it's approach, this latest chip resolved most issues people had with the SD9.

  9. Hi,

While a lurker by habit I would like to share a couple of things.

I finally decided to get a DSLR before Christmas instead of waiting

to see if the price drop afterwards. The Sigma just fascinates so

much that I have decided to get it. While not a pixel counter the

quality of the image is what's important. I suspect over the next

few years major changes will happen and it's an exiting time for

    photography.

  10. I know it's only a 3mp but it compares in the reviews to a 5-6 and from what I read you can enlarge it as much or a little more than a 6. I 've read the draw back to the Sigma system, for the most part this is a reasonable update although I would have liked the pixel bumped up a bit. Sometime around the 1st of the year I plan on getting something and am considering the Sigma since this update, the 10D is still the front runner but still just a runner.
  11. Hi, a little history, I bought a Pentax in 77 and still use it. I,ll

drive 2 or 3 hours take a dozen pictures of a sunrise. I usally take

maybe couple hunred pictures a year, but I'm careful a what I take

and may spend 2 hours to get what I want. My wife got me a p&s

digital and I do take more but have gotten fimilar with the delete

key too.Retirement is coming up and so is a digital slr along with a

few lenses. Forgive me but a Rebel is out. Maybe a 10D or a S2, I'm

looking at a istD but am really undecided, I'm in field of work that

uses technology so no problem there. Now my question, can a person

really go wrong if the try and buy quality personal preference aside.
