My first was a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye, my second a Pentax Spotmatic in 1967 that I still have.

Oh boy...I have some of those dreaded Passed Stickers, not only that, I have the dreaded Snake Skin also. I should be banned from this forum.

I have 5 camera bags set up to go. I just need to grab film. One has my Sony Alpha and a Minolta Maxxum in it, 2nd has a Minolta XE-7 and a X-700, 3rd is a Pentax bag, 4th has 2 Fujica cameras, and the 5th has a couple Cosinas. My pocket camera is a Minolta Freedom II.

My Contax is reliable. It just got sticky & nasty. Fourteen bucks, and now it's a croc.

I still have my old Polaroid digital camera, but I don't use it anymore.

I just purchased a 70 online, but I haven't got it yet. I have a 5, and it is a great camera.

I've had this problem. There is a shutter release rod right below the shutter button that gets corroded and sticks. I unscrew the shutter release collar and work the rod up and down and I add a drop of sewing machine oil. After it frees up, the problem subsides.

First thing that pops into my head after viewing these photos....Prairie Home Companions.

Fantastic! Not to brag, but I scored a pair of Nikkormat FTn bodies for $25 bucks a couple weeks ago, and they both work just fine.

To me, "Minty" best describes a Urnal Cake.

Sure is, but it doesn't happen very often.

How about the guy that's been selling cameras for over 5 years on Evilbay, yet all of his listing descriptions say, "I don't know much about cameras, so I'm not sure if this works or not".....

My XE-7 had that brochure packed with it along with the Hang Tags, 3 Booklets, and the Warranty Cards for the flash, body, and lens.

That doesn't bother me as much as, "perfect for student" or "student camera" and there's even a guy with a username STUDENTCAMERA.

You're welcome. I love it when I buy a camera and the owner says it's broken and all it needs is new batteries.

Great job Michael. I pretty much went the same route as you, but my results were better. Out of 4 cameras, I ended up with 4 great cameras. I now have 2 XE-5s, and an XE-7. I gave another XE-5 to my son and he loves his. My XE-7 had a 3 inch long section of torn film jamming it.

The best thing I could tell you is to check out the camera manuals at Butkus, and make your own decision. I like Cosinas like the CT-1 and CT1a. In Chinon there is the CM-1 and the SLR models that are both tanks. Chinon also made cameras for GAF like the LCM, LCS, and L-17. I own many of these cameras, and they all work great. Examples can be bought for around the $25 dollar range. http://www.butkus.org/chinon/

I'm kind of surprised nobody has mentioned a Chinon or Cosina. Both companies made very reliable cameras with Copal Shutters, and some very nice features.
