  1. I own the versatron 800 with the 800ws booster. Is it possibpe to use the light heads on other more up to date power

supplies. The heads are great, but the power supply weights at least 30+ pounds. The newer power supplies are

much small. Is there a shop that can modify the cables to fit other systems? Thanks in advance.

  2. When i was 4 years old and very hyper active, my great grandmother would try to quiten me down by getting her family bible (which weight about 20 lbs.). It was choked full of family photgraphs. I loved looking at all the photographs (especially the ones of the oldest relatives. It kept me occupied for hours with any worry of me bothering her. i just loved the old B&W photo's anf the B&W fiber prints that were hand tinted. At the age of 17 I joined the army and the firt purchase I ever bought was a Ricoh KR5 camera and later a Minolta SRT 101. They were built like tank. I got my darkroom license and studio license in Kitzingen, Germany. I learned everything from a 87 year old Photo Meister. He taught me to understand light. He later taught me how to use large format (8x10 and 11x14 cameras). He taught me hot to manipulate negatives and how to use the grading system for printing. At 20 I got married. Had an extremely beautiful wife. So now I had a model to photograph. We travel a lot all over Germany and Austria. At the age of 25 We had a son. Now I was getting the experience photgraphing babies. But now I was shooting weddings for free. I was shooting postcards for the travel agencies. I specialized in night photography using a 4x5 camera. At the age of 27 my wife died of luekemia. My son was only 2 years old. So all I had left was my son and my passion for photography. I have been shooting now for over 30 years. My son is now a med school Student. Its funny thought. Out of all these years of shiiting. There isn't 20 photographs of me in existance. None of the whole family. It was always me behing the camera. That was where I had the most joy. Now I've re married. We have a son, but still no photographer (just hoped). And I still don't have a family portrait. Maybe one day. I've made many transitions. But digital to me has been the best. (getting out of the dark room). I hope to never lose the passion.<div>00OEfH-41410484.thumb.jpg.3fd4cf4f0cfd51164523271f80735c28.jpg</div>
  3. I have worked for a company for over 7 years for three different owners. I had

to provide all my own equipment in order to do my jod. The owners have alway

owned their own equipment, but as I said I have always used my own. (Nikon D1x,

Nikon D70, Nikon D200, and Nikon D300. All files have my name and copyright

enbedded as I shot all images. (feature of Nikon). There was never an agreement

as to who owned the right to the images (signed or oral). I have always done

whatever i want to do with the images as far as advertising (of course with the

permission of the customer). The Business has now closed and I what to know if

I have the right to display any of the photo's I shot for the last 7 years

without the previsous ownerss permission. As I said earlier all was shot with

my equipment, all are enbedded with my copyright information, and before

display I asked for permission from all customers. Thanks in advance!

  4. I have the Pixma Pro9000 printer and also the I9900. I use the Adobe 1998 color space. I use the Printer managing colors. I too had the same problem. But you have to turn off optimization and other directive in the print driver. After I turned them off. Everything is 100% accurate as the monitor. It is under the tab. I love what I get out of both of these printers. Its just that the driver is set for people that do not want full control of their image. It is set up to be optimized for PictBridge. I have used the I9900 for 2 years and it has been flawless. I have had the Pro 9000 now for 6 months, again no problems. Good Luck. Dan
  5. I have the very same lens. I have sent it to Sigma twice. And everytime they say there is nothing wrong. It would no work with my D1X, D70, D70s or my D200. It worked better with my N90s (film). It has to be a design flaw.............. Dan
  6. I have a vista system. It is a Dell E1505 2.3 ghz duo processor laptop with 2gig ram, 120 gig HD, 256 ram video card. I am running Adobe CS2, Nikon NX, Nikon Capture Pro, Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro and I am not having any problems. I shoot 100% raw from a Nikon D200. I use Nikon NX for the conversion to JPEG and TIFFS. I then use CS2 to finalize my files. I have batch converted 400 raws files at one time and the system has worked flawlessly. The update of Nikon NX to 1.1 has increased the spead of the raw processing.I use a Pantone Huey to calibrate my monitor and it works great. Vista works twice as fast with my wireless not that it was ever slow on XP. I have no no horrors so far. Nothing but good............. Used the system tethered with studio lights for a wedding 02/17/07 and printed the photos on location. All worked flawless.....
  7. I've learned the hard way. Updated my Dell 1705 Laptop and the software went in without any problems. But my Nikon NX (have to wait for an update for vista) does not work, My System Mechanic 6 Pro doen't work (have to buy System Mechanic 7)....... But the good is that Capture 4 works flawless, CS2 works flawless, and my Nikon Capture Pro works flawless. My only disppointment was my Nikon NX. Because I use it everyday in my studio. But the good is that I didn't updat all my systems. So now it is a wait game for the updates.....Dan
  8. The reason for this is that the built-in flash is operation on ttl. To fix this you need to change the incamera flash to manual and cut the power. then the exposure should be correct. i think we'll all made this mistake at one time ......

  9. I am in need of the best papers to use with the Canon i9900 printer. If Epson

will give excellent results? Will I have to stay with the Canon papers. If

there are any 3rd party papers with excellent results. Will any oy the Adorama

generic papers give satisfactory results? The 13x19 is the main paper I plan

to use, but will probably use two printers for different size setups.

  11. I had the same problem with a canon 10d, I sent the lens back for repair work and it came back as being o.k. and not faults found. I then took the lens and an eraser fron a pencil and rubbed the contacts. I then mounted the lens and it has worked flawlessly. Something as low tech as an eraser.....LOL Try it and it may help you.
  12. I presently own both the 2450 and the 4990 pro and I can tell you there is a significant difference. I too have 14 years prepress experience. I have owned the 2450 since its release. The 2450 was and still is a great scanner for 120 film but it still doesn't compare to the 4990 pro. The silverfast software really does make a difference. It streamlines your workflow and is quite east to use if you have used the previous versions. I only use mine for scanning 4x5 B&W film and 120 sides. Bang for the buck, this scanner would be har to beat. You will recieve a LE version of the Silverfast with the photo, which is all most people need that are not advanced at scanning.
  13. I had the same problem. It turned out to be simple. The Novatron syn cord has a house hold plug. What ever way you have it turned, just turn it the opposite direction and it should fire. I have be using mine for over 2 years with no proplem

  14. No the problem is the CMYK setting. Change the print setting to SRGB or Adobe 1998 and the problem will clear up. The CMYK setting is for offset printing. Which simulates an offset press for a low grade type of paper. The liberty setting is set for a cover type of paper which has a higher line screen and a cleaner background. It isn't a printer problem or a Photoshop problem. It is a printer setting problem. I have 10 years Photo shop experience (no GURU) but I also have 20 years offset printing with Quebecor World (worlds largest printing company).

  15. The Nikon 35 f2 AFD is my main lens. It has excellent resolution, extremely sharp, fast focus. And yes I use it with the D70. I use it wide open on a regular basis. I have ran into no problems so far. I owned the non-D version for about 2 years. I dropped and broke it. So when I replaced it, I purchased the D version. Both are excellent. I don't have the Sigma 30, but I do have the Sigma 28 f1.8 and it is the shi--iest lens I have ever owned.
