It's pretentious and ugly? How can art be pretentious?? Isn't that the whole point? You indulge yourself in what you create. If you're not pretentious then you're stale and boring.
Art-school stuff? And how is art done in an art school automatically bad? In any case, I'm not in an art school..never have been.
Then you said, "I don't like all of my own work".
Then why the hell would you release it? Anyone who releases something they don't believe in 100% shouldn't bother doing anything.
Your next comment was: "Besides, it's not a true photograph."
A "true" photograph??? The cameras we use today would never be considered "true" back in the late 1800s when photography was invented. Times change. Technology changes. How you adapt to that is what's important. Digitally manipulating a photo is no worse than putting a filter over a lens. Don't fool yourself into thinking that using things like filters and zoom lenses is ok because it's more "real" than digital alterations...

I agree, but everything in that image was photographed by me as well.

Thanks for the comment. While I agree with you, this image isn't the kind of thing that draws alot of mass appeal. If I wanted to do that I would have taken pictures of sunsets, dew on leaves, and black and white portraits of old people. Anyway, glad you like it. :)

What the hell is that supposed to mean?
You might not like it, but why a 1/1? It's people like you that ruin this site.

great scene, but far too dark

very blue sky there...

ok, i guess. I like the texture. 4/5

I like it alot. I get the "feel" of Paris with this image. The blue and gold in the sky helps give it a whimsical carnival like atmosphere.

ok. but not great. 4/4

I'm sick of dew drop on leaf photos...but this has a cool oriental feel. 4/4

I like this alot. Not perfect, but fairly nice. 5/5

To clarify: the woman's head and the metalic instrument holding her eye's back are the only original photographs. The water, tubes, lights, laser, and "strings" holding her eyelids were all created digitally from scratch.

Thanks for the comments. I'll take what you all said into consideration next time around.
I actually used this as a "drummer wanted" poster for my band. I put up 200 flyers and got 1 call. When I put up just a regular black and white text flyer up I got about 20 calls. Turns out alot of people said the poster made them intimidated to call. :) I have more like this that I'll post soon.

Fairly good. I think a more horizontal panoramic type layout whould look better. It would give a more uneasy and surreal feel to the image, i think. Good idea.
