Wasn't the 10D subject to focusing issue? I had one with a focus issue unfortunately (google canon 10d focus problems)

Hi. I have a MP-E65 on a 10D with the ring flash. I am not worried too much with the dust (I have the same type of spots as you do). Reason is I do remove these spots with Photoshop and quite frankly, the pain going through this is nothing in comparison to the costs of developing 300 shots you can easily do with digital in couple hours...as yes going beyond x2 introduces somehow a 'luck' parameter in the pictures!
On top of that, I love the MP-E. It's a amazing and hassle-free....
