It says all the time Error, probably this is part of the selection!
http://www.photo.net/photo/3253297 Tell me,
floris.
-
Maybe i should ask; what does it tell me, it is just so funny... Almost all combiations thats possible. To be clear, there is no complaint involved here. I am happy with the opportunity to show my work here, Brian and I met some nice friends on P.N. Love, floris.

What do I learn from these ratings?
http://www.photo.net/photodb/ratings_breakdown?photo_id=3235565
Tell me: floris andrea

Thank you for reactions, but I think you misunderstand what I mean. I am not hungry for more options. I just want to give some people a tool to express negative feelings. Using A and O ratings for that is so (F..) silly.
-
Next to O and A a T could be an option. T = Taste. An L is possible
too, from like it or not. Many people can't hide their drive to
express their feelings. Sometimes people just don't like a
photograph, even if it's high quality and very aestethic. Also the
otherway around excists; very common and aestethic-wise it's crap,
but I like it! Pushing the key is less than an effort like writing a
commenting story. A fluctuating T rating from 1 up to 7 is
understandable, an O rating like that is pretty weird... Thanks,
floris.

Especially in photography you don't make art, you can have the intention making it, but the spectator & time tells us if it is or not. Maybe the ratings should have influence on that, pics rated below 3 are pushed out, are bad art and maybe bad art aint art? About one thing i'm sure, one must recognize the hand of the photographer in it. A beautiful sunset is art done by nature. I predict a lot of whining 'artists'! It will always be a fine mistery; whats art...
-
Jayme, did i say you are sweet? I'm speaking of vulnerability of 'us': photoposters. Not talking about nurses or intelligence. Guess you have too much to read... Good luck.
-
It looks like you are too much preoccupied with being hurt, Yes you totally misunderstood my point. Maybe because English is not my motherlanguage... I'm not saying you are anonymous, did I? I am not saying you posted less pictures as I did... I Am saying you are vulnerable as an artist and and have to deal with that, your reaction illustrates you don't. Sweet people are sweet, gathering sweet people are boring, not inspiring. Friction inspires, where elements hit each other, structures will appear. Thats nature. I guess i'm again not clear. Stupid Dutchman I am.
-
As I look at this, I see not just awkwardness activated by anonymity. Some photographers (me included) are the opposite of anonymus, via their work they show themselves very much detailed. That makes them vulnerable. Since the internet crowd is a huge one, PN artists are extra vulnerable. So... Being an artist you need, next to your talents, to be able to show yourself vulnerable and you must be able to handle the mean crowd. Gathering sweet people are boring and not much of an inspiration. Us people are not a flowerfield, thanks to Gods non exister.

Anyone, even a beginner can comment a photograph. For example, you can judge it on the story it tells, what you feel with it. for this you have to take a closer look at the picture and that's good. People rate without looking, they are just pushing their keys. The last posted images done by me, generated all combinations of ratings from 7/7 downto 1/1, weird. I know my images are not that aestethic, but they are original because thats what i'm aiming for. I developed my own technique for that reason, so rating my pictures 1/1 prooves you are too blind to rate. Critiquing is direct communication, misunderstandings can be solved, new interpretations can be told, just like a gallery. Nobody will rate images in a gallery. One should rate only more concrete stuff, like a new car. Art isn't rateble, and thats what photography now and then is.

Last response by me to Marc G. must be seen as unwritten. Nobody was talking to me and I talked too soon. Sorry, sorry. floris.
-
Marc G, I did rate many pictures without commenting it. But not this morning, impossible. As far as i know i'm not preaching, just ventilating some frustrations. Not frustrations about my kind of rating, but rating-behaviour of others. You see? As you can see, most of the times i did rate, i rated photo's i love. Positive ratings as a quick compliment. Right now i'm not sure if thats still working, i am sure about the fact that i'm not going to 'ask' for ratings. If i rated this morning pictures of yours below 5 or whatever, without any comment; a dangerous rating-virus has got into P.N. Idon't think so.
Yours, the preacher.
-
I think war and creativity are each others opposites... I'll ignore the rating option from now on , and see what happens. The last comment on a picture i received was Scott's, http://www.photo.net/shared/community-member?user_id=837272. His reaction on my Sphinx photo is pretty amazing, critique of the month i would say. Ciao, floris.
-
Comment of the month; good idea... Another way to stimulate people in their creativeness. Can someone tell me what ratings stimulate?
-
Another silly story about ratings, that's what I mean; it is too much an isue... I prefer photo.net above rating.net
Sorry, floris.
-
As said, this is just my personal experience with this new system.
- People are rating more active.
- mate rating is still though, less happening...
people explain in their comment what they just rated.
- non posters and newcomers are still low-raters.
- once i post experimental stuff:
comments are helpfull, ratings not really.
- which means the critique option is used in a healthy,
photography-loving way and rating in a negative- rarely in a positive
emotional way.
- The rating system is loosing it's power to stimulate me to post my
work.
- Maybe the next step is to stop rating, it is the only game-like
element this mature site is including.
- I'm still happy being part of Photo.net

Dear P.N. men & Women,
After some months of showing my work and being inspired by this site,
i feel kind of guilty that i didn't subscribed yet. The reason is
that i am a poor artist and on top of that; i have no creditcard! Is
there any alternative way to pay! Like.... sending a print of your
choice, to decorate the walls of the P.N. office? Please, let me know.
Thank you, Floris Andrea.

In Peru, Iquitos is a wonderful place to be. A plane will bring you from Lima. There is no road. It is a weird, isolated, very colonial place, close to the start of the Amazone river. So there is good food, a pictoresc Malécon, water, animals, Jungle, Indians, Bélèn, and adventure. And... not that many Gringo's... Pevas, some day's down the river, is special too...
In Bolivia i would suggest to go to Salar de Uyuni, wonderful, wonderfull nature, Like mountains, lakes, salt lakes, animals... Sucre is nice too, pretty high... See my site for pictures. www.florisandrea.com Have a good trip, floris.<div></div>

Don't look at it as a problem. As I said Photo.net is mirroring real life. We (men) are preoccupied with women! We are overrating them, looking at them, even more often when they are beautiful, just like you said. We dream of them and that's good. I understand women and gay-man, complaining about us, women-adoring men. But it is like it is, don't resist, it is no problem. Man.
-
My dear fellow photographers, What i like about this site is its mirroring quality. It shows our world; in a better way, like Paradise. The cars, the flowers the nudes, the animals. We put our own light on it and we share. We capture what we think it's beautiful and we share. Since we exist, a flower is a symbol of beauty and that counts for nudes too. Separation is a step back. Nudity and beauty is part of us all. As soon there's an image that irritates you, go, look at another one. In most cases it doesn't have anything to do with a collective moral problem, but a simple personal problem. Let's keep it all visible, you don't have to look. It is Paradise, you'll miss it once you kick out the nudes. Hallelujah.
Can't load up ma poupée!
