  1. Christos, I just added another photo from the same shoot to my portfolio (see "reflecting pool"). The major difference is that the polarizer was dialed completely transparent in that shot to get the full effect of the pool. Notice the difference in the sky. These two shots are about 5 min apart I believe.

    The filter adds a little contrast to the sky, pops the clouds some, darkens the blue a little. The problem was trying to

    get the sky without loosing the reflections in the pool under the limb, or turning the lake and sky blue/black. You have to adjust the filter for the subtle difference. This shot without the filter would have lost the feathery clouds into a pale blue sky and the reflections in the pool would have been just glare.

  3. I tried the branch up and down framing. I chose this one because of the way it fit the clouds, and I wanted the reflection in the pool as well.

     

    BTW - this is south side of the lake in Lake Shore Park looking north.
