  1. I got a 1/1 on a photo where I got primarily 5's and 6's. I know it's not a 1/1, and

obviously my client who paid me didn't think so. It makes no sense to me and his

other ratings seem fair, so what to do? It's not worth the energy worrying about it.

  2. Unfortunately, this would be subject to the same problems as the other categories.

As a studio photographer, some shots may take days or even weeks to set-up. There

are sets to build, props to find, models to select, etc. I'm sure I have no idea what a

nature or landscape photographer has had to endure to get that beautiful photograph

that might seem perfectly unoriginal to me. I alway look at the portfolio of anyone

who has given me the courtesy of a rating, and find it interesting that the lowest

ratings often come from those with portfolios unlike mine.

On the digital maniupulations, I often wonder on the technical side, did the

photographer shoot all of the images for the composite? Are they compiled of a

bunch of free clipart, perhaps with one image of his/her own? How can I rate it

    unless I know?

  3. I like your idea, Walter, for "20". I, too, found it strange that after ten ratings the

images disappear. Doug, wouldn't deleting a critique request and submitting it again

be somewhat an abuse of the system? Now you have me curious on what would

happen with an image if I did that.

  4. Leanne, I posted under my husband's name because we are in business together and

that by signing my name it would clarify that the post is my opinion, not his. Even

the mere suggestion that I am not my own person is ridiculous, so let's not go there.

Your photography is great, shows good taste and I'd be willing to hold your work up

as an example of what I consider appropriate. Rather than toss insults, why not

comment on the topic at hand?

  5. Graham, I am not concerned with my daughters seeing naked women! I am concerned

that they will see women portrayed as objects. We try to teach them that their bodies

are their own and to demand respect from men. It's clear that those of us with young

daugthers are facing a different battle than those without.

  6. As a mother of two young daughters, I was saddened that I was unable to view this

site in their presence. In my quest to learn photography, I have found this site both

inspirational and informative, but have also been rather disgusted with the number of

hits and high ratings that the nude females get. It became even more amusing when I

saw a male nude get bashed when I thought it was original and far from

pornographic. Perhaps a nude forum would make everyone happy and you can all

swear you are 18 when you want to visit it. Reminds of the secret room in video

stores you have to go into to view a X-rated movie. I am not opposed to nudity, but

it is sad that this site is one that can be inappropriate for young minds, especially

    those trying to learn photography.
