square works here really well. color palette is subtle nicely. skin tones natural, figures are funny, hair colors work good, as well as all outfit, one of the faces could be captured at slightly better moment.  in general i like it.

Pluses: Beautiful model. Perfect make-up and skin softening post-processing. No oversharpening.

Minuses: lifeless expression, more exactly - lack of it or any human emotion. Background is just plain grey, probably added in post, empty again.

I have just created a small folder of images different from all my

previous work posted here. now it's digital, less formal, apparently

less static. Well, it's Tango folder. Does it/this picture work? Which

category does it fit better? While I like this image and some others

in the folder, I am not sure if it's worth keeping here. I need your

    opinion.

I like it's square and his face expression. I do not like that focus is not on his face, but on his bottles... actually, not much focus at all, except upper left corner. face light is rather flat (but mach better than direct flash would be). his dark clothes are somewhat undertextured (well, that may be my monitor).

  1. It's difficult to comment, because of echoed multiple memories in my mind... We live now because of those 'utopians'. I did not find look of those banners to be very communist, but I can read one-and half word : "...of people... ompletely'. Interesting: we do not see his eyes, so emotional impact we get is mostly from lower part of his face...

I had a hard time deciding if to leave this image full frame or crop.

The crops I tried did not persuade me: I liked the whole frame more.

Is it just the film black borders or may be the image is not so

unbalanced? As for the model, to me she did her part perfectly. Your

    comments are welcome.

Doug, thank you for encouraging comment. And I did not see those 'tiny bits of crumbling plaster directly over her head'. Fortunately, not so difficult to remove, as you have shown. As for composition, the original is 645 and it included right half of arch on background and both front pillars, but after some hesitation I cropped them out.

I posted here a few portraits of this person, and one or two of them

seemed to work either for me or critiquers. What do you think about

    this one?
