  1. Thanks for the tip on the 90 minute walk. I haven't been there and I have a few questions:

    1. Is sunrise best?

    2. If you haven't been there before, is following the trail as simple as walking the creek? I will have a GPS with me to assist.

    3. How much later after sunrise was your photo taken?

    4. Do you think shadows would be falling on this at sunrise on April 14?

I like the photograph and the way you have oriented the foreground area.

    Thanks

    Phil

  2. I was hoping to catch this geyser as the sun set. All I got was this

rotten light instead (just kidding). It was beautiful and I enjoyed it

all by myself, even though the park was quite busy at the time. I

would like to have shot down but I had no ladder with me or any way to

    accomplish that. Critiques welcome.

I like the composition and color. If the boat sides weren't a bright color like this, I don't think this would work as well for me personally. Nice shot.

    Kiva Light

          3

One of my wife's favorite pictures. The most difficult part of

capturing this image was avoiding people coming down the ladder. I

don't remember the exposure exactly, but it was at least 8 seconds.

Around noon at Mesa Verde with tour groups coming through it's tough

to get that even that much time. After being down there for about 90

minutes, one of the people coming down asked me how it was going and I

explained how difficult it was to get a clean shot. On his way out, he

held back the crowds for about 1 minute while I took several shots. My

wife sat outside the entire time I was in the Kiva and had a nice chat

    with one of the rangers.

  3. I shared this spot with another photographer the night before and we

spent about 90 minutes discussing local opportunities and other places

we had visited. He showed me some of his Canadian photos on his

portable Epson viewer. That night the light didn't cooperate. He told

me he was leaving the next morning so he missed this much nicer

    sunset. Comments are appreciated.

  4. I think any time you visit an icon, you shoot it. You might also have to shoot the same shot someone else has before, there's a reason you see the same viewpoints - they look better! I see you cheated and climbed the fence - I did too. Unfortunately the fog was so thick when I was there I could barely make out the light. Nice shot.

Nice composition. I like the touch of the chain at the bottom of the photograph. You obviously caught some nice light. Congratulations, great shot.

    Hilltop Hoodoos

          2

Taken at Theordore Roosevelt NP, the wind was blowing about 40mph

before sunrise. After scouting compositions I actually got down behind

the rock on the right side of this picture to block the wind as the

temperature was colder than one would think in July. Thanks for looking.

Nice shot. I like the two beams of light. I'm guessing you didn't have many options on tripod placement. Do you have one without the darker rock at the top right of the frame? Also, when was this taken (i.e. date and time)?

    Keanae Guardian

          1

It was a stormy morning on the Keanae Peninsula. The water levels and

reef allowed me to climb out to a higher vantage point and shoot back

as the waves rolled in. No sun that morning until later. A two second

exposure. The large centered lava looked like a guardian surveying the

    incoming waves.

    Comments would be appreciated.
