Thanks, Tom... Interesting choice on the cropping. Does tend to focus on the subject at hand.
The background is a snowfield across the valley from the tree in bright sunlight. Would have been difficult to tone it down and keep the bird well exposed.

Now the site of the Hunterdon County Art Museum, this old mill was
photographed with my Canon Powershot G3 on the day after I bought it
this spring... Comments welcome!

Michael:
Thank you for your feedback.
The scan doesn't do the original justice. The sky in the slide is deeper blue and there's great detail in the clouds. This shot was in fact taken through a polarizer to deepen the sky.
The scan you're seeing was one I did myself at home. I had the shot scanned at my local lab for an enlargement and it looks much better. I should have used the scan I got back from the lab to post the picture here. The lab used a 4000dpi scanner as opposed to my 2800, and the big differece... The operator knew what he was doing! ;-)

Well balanced composition. Interesting sense of "mystery" regarding the boat man's gaze. I wonder what he's looking at... Is he going home with a nice full catch? Great "story" shot!

Here's a shot of an historic mill in NJ taking this summer. Shot on
Ektachrome 64 professional with my Elan IIe and 50mm f/1.4 (1/60@f/8).
The scan leaves a little to be desired since I'm still trying to
learn to use my scanner, so please keep that in mind when evaluating
the photo.
Thanks!!

Hi, Massoud...
I really like this shot. The range of colors is very interesting. The silhouette of the pier with the boat pulling out makes me wonder where it is going, adding some mystery to the "story" in the shot.
The composition is beautiful, but I'd lke to see the end of the pier nearer to the center of the shot so it doesn't pull the eye out to the right. Might be difficult to get without filling the background with the mountain, though.

Thanks Massoud... I kind of do like the crop a little better. There's just too much water in the full-frame shot. Thanks for a super idea!

Evening on Puget Sound near Seattle, WA finds two kayakers plying the
waters. Olympic Mountains is the far distance. I was going for a
feeling of serenity with this shot. How'd I do?

Great colors! A little more DOF would have been nice.

Nice macro shot!

I get the feeling these two have some mischief in mind! ;-)

I was driving down the PCH one afternoon, came around a bend and this
scene unfolded through the windshield...
April Morning on the Beach, Ocean City, NJ
in Landscape
Posted
Shot this past Saturday (4/11/15) on the beach at Ocean City, NJ. Cloudy
morning about hours past sunrise. From the RAW file, with lots of work in
Lightroom.
I'm only just starting to develop (pardon the pun) my Lightroom skills, along
with slowly improving my technique behind the camera. Technical details -
Canon EOS 6D, EF 24-105 f/4 L IS USM @ 24mm, ISO 100 f/16 @ 1/60.
I haven't submitted an image for critique here in a long time. I'd love to hear
what you have to say!
