1.
I own a D300 as well and I tried my 70-200 on it with VR on and off and there's difference. It really helped especially at 200mm. Great for wedding. Below 1/15 might be unacceptable though. The thing is it won't stop motion blur. Would be great if it did. Maybe one day they will...

  2.
Very nice indeed for the first time. Just be careful with the exposure. I know it can be quite tricky to phohorgraph the bride and groom next to each other. You can decrease the exposure by one 1 or 2 stops. You have a great eye though which is more important I think. We can talk about the techniques and stuff but if we don't have a creative eye what's the point? Thanks for sharing.

  3. I think the best thing about Nikon is that, although it's not manufacturing any new lenses with really big apertures, you can still use its oldest but really sharp lenses on the newest cameras. I think investment in Nikon system is a really good thing for this reason. I don't think people with DX lenses should sell their good DX lenses at all. Because, DX lenses are lighter than their FX brothers. Especially on a giant camera like D3 or X. Maybe that's why nikon delayed the FX cameras.

People who want high frame rates and higlhy light sensitive sensor can go for D3. So, I don't think this new camera can be a D3 killer. They are totly different cameras. Anyway, why would sport photographers or photojournalists want a camera with 24 MP sensor. This camera is for studio and landscape like the Canon's 1DSIII. With a little bit more pixel count and I am sure better ISO performance. And the DX lens usability advantage. What I'd like to see is better sharpening.

  4. Thanks for the response Fred. I hope it even gets higher even if my pictures wouldnt' be displayed at all in TRP. No problem with that at all. But I know some of my pictures get some ratings and they must be in TRP. At least somewhere, doesn't matter if they are on page 100 . Because I submit my photos to be crituqed so that I can learn from others who are maybe better than me. Second opinion always counts for me as long as it is constructive. TRP doesn't mean that your photos should get ratings like say nearly 7. Thanks Lex for the information, he says "-You might have uploaded the image and then waited before submitting it. The 24 hour (or 3 day or one week) timer starts counting from the

time the image is uploaded, not from the time the image is submitted." which I discovered before. Anyway... But I thought it would be more logical that timer started from the time the image is submitted for critique instead uploaded. Do you think this has to do with high standards?

Thanks for the answer Josh. Actually I'd really like to see this rule changed. If it's possible... Because the thing is I

upload my pictures so I can submit them for critique at anytime like when I'm at work or outside. Cheers. Regards.

  6. Thanks for your comments guys.

I tried today as I normally do (last 3 days, All/Nature,... number of ratings/Avarage/..). and it's being displayed. Seriously, Lex, when I look I cant see sometimes even though I look at every page until the end. Like say if get 10 ratings for my picture with say 5 for originality and 5 for aesthetics I look at all the pages showing ratings less then 10 and 5 for originality and 5 for aesthetics.

  7. As F4 is older I don't think you can use all the features of new lenses and flashguns. Besides, if you need it, it is not as fast. I'd go for F5 which I might, if I find a bargain in good condition. I'd recommend you have your prints scanned after you have them developed.
  8. Hi everyone! Those who turn on the NR on their D300 to Normal or High will definetely get bad results in terms of loss in sharpness. I think the best thing to do is to put it on Low NR and reduce noise using a software like PS CS3. Of course, I agree that the image quality will not be the same as the fullframes but you win some you lose some. Or if possible use a tripod and long shutter times with a lower ISO. Do the fullframe cameras gain an extra 150mm when a 300mm is attached? Is a D700 faster than 300 in terms of continuous shooting? No. Plus, D300 itself is lighter which makes it easier to carry around all day. Plus the lens you attach on it doesn't have to be a very long and heavy, attach a lens and multiply it with 1.5 without losing any pixels. What I'm saying is that while we have the DX we should just enjoy the merits instead of depraise.
  9. Edwin, I don't have any of these expensive stuff but I think 14-24 is the best option for you. I own a D300 and if I consider buying a wide angle it would be that lens. First, it is one of the sharpest lenses (I saw it myself) and second you will still get wide angle in both cameras and wider than 17-35. I don't think your pictures will be any sharper if you use a lens specifically designed for a DX camera. What you are going to miss with this lens is not too much compared to a DX lens but less than 17-35. Plus, you have the option to zoom in or out whenever it is needed. So, it is better than a prime for sure. Another thing is that I think you are going to use the FX for super wide angle shots and use the DX for shots from wide to tele anyway.
