1. I need to adjust/convert RAW files to 8" x 10" at 300ppi but am having trouble finding a program that will let me view/specify the PPI settings. I don't have any commercial software. The Canon provided software doesn't have that option and have tried a few free photo-editing programs but no such luck. I actually need these to complete my application to a processing studio so I can use their services.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

  2.
Doug,
Thanks for the suggestions. Most of my work will involve filming my nephew's concerts, etc. and submitting them to his professional videographer for final processing. He has already used some of my footage in some promotional videos so I think if I get a decent external mic, he will be able to work with any future videos I provide.
Again, thanks to everyone for all the informative responses. It certainly gives me a lot of options to consider as I learn more about this whole process.

  3.
While I appreciate all the responses so far, I'm not quite ready to invest in the equipment that has been suggested. Right now, I just looking for a good, inexpensive high quality on-camera mic. I don't have any experience with sound editing and am looking for a simple solution to at least get better audio than the built-in mic provides.

  4.
I just got my 70D and love it. However, I will be using it to record concert videos and was looking for some recommendations for the best external mic for this purpose. I will be close to the performer for most of the concerts and my videos will also be used for audition submissions and will also be incorporated into videos for website postings.

  5.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I'll just continue to take my laptop along. I was hoping I could find something a little smaller to use. Don't really want to buy another tablet device. I already have a Nook and a Kindle Fire. Was hoping I could find something that would work with one of those.

  6.
I appreciate all the responses. For those that asked, I would primarily be shooting birds (and I know I'm very limited but my budget won't allow for the lens I would really need.) I've been using a Minolta Maxxum 7000 with a 70-300 for about 20 yrs and am wanting to make the jump to digital.

  7. I will be purchasing a Canon EOS Digital Rebel soon and am

interested in getting the best telephoto lens for this camera priced

around $500.00. I would like some recommendations with the best

speed/telephoto distance combo. Any suggestions would be

appreciated. I will be using this camera mainly for bird photography.
