Andrei,
This was shot from the back of Newport Overlook Resort, right down by the water. You might have a hard time making this image since the the surrounding property is private. I was staying at the resort.

I shot this late at night as fog was rolling in. It is an 8' exposure,
which is why you can see the trail left by a ferry as it went by from
left to right. By the time the exposure was complete, the top of the
lights were completely obscured by the fog.

I strongly prefer the original version. There is no life left in the second version. It's too pristine and unnatural to me.

Any/all comments welcome.

The streaks above the trees are star trails.

Wondering what you all think of my latest attempt to render Fog as I
see it in my mind's eye.

This is wonderful! I love the way the whole thing glows. The only thing I would change would be to find a way to mave a little bit more maximum black somewhere in there. Having said that, this is one of the best IR shots I've seen in a long time.
Well done.

Sacha,
I was going to send you an email, but decided to share the details here. This image is the result of approximately 250 images aligned/stacked in a program called Registax and then processed in Photoshop.
The reason things aren't clearer is because it's too early to by making this image. I need to wait until Saturn is higher in the sky so I'm not looking through so much atmosphere.
Hope that helps.

I think this image would benefit from a little judicious cropping. I was thinking how great this shot was until I scrolled down and kept seeing more and more of the overpowering dark area at the base. I think it would look better with about half the amount of darkness down there.
Great idea and exposure tho.

Very nice IR shot. There's nothing like the ethereal quality of one of these done well.

Larry,
Yes this is quite close to the cathedral. Probably within 1/2 mile of there.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I agree about the white horse, but as you hinted it took me about 30 minutes just to get one to look my direction.

One of my first "street" attempts. What do you all think?

I don't know if it's that the face is too sharp or just too much sharper than the rest of the image. Either way, I agree the image needs more balance. Her head looks too big.
However, the lighting is wonderful.

This is a great idea, but I think it would be better represented if the tree were more isolated. This composition seems to be a bit flat for me.

Pat,
I went and looked at your folder. I commented on one (the one from inside the temple). I think I'd work on having less of the white foreground in some of those shots. It's overwhelming the rest of the image. Otherwise, I think there's some wonderful stuff going on there!
You mentioned a black spot in the left portion of the sky. I'm not seeing it, could you be please point it out more closely for me?
thanks,
Dave

This is my favorite of this folder. Something about the surreal (sp?) look of the interior really draws my attention. The spidery effects in the upper portion of the image are a little bit distracting, but I don't suppose there was much to be done about that.
It sure is fun/frustrating working with IR, isn't it?

oops, that should read reasonably close.

My cheap scanner reduced the quality somewhat, but it's reasonable
close to the original.

This is a great image Phil! I am definitely a sucker for mist and fog. I love the way things fade off in the distance.
Having said that, I agree with a previous comment regarding the brighter green grass in the foreground. If you just use the scroll bar in your browser to crop it out, the image feels more balanced.
Either way, I love the image. Great job!

I love this image! The colors are fantastic and the arrangement leads you right to the artist.
Having said that, isn't there something more recent that could have been chosen as POW? This was apparently originally shared on photo.net in 2009.
