  1. I shot this late at night as fog was rolling in. It is an 8' exposure,

which is why you can see the trail left by a ferry as it went by from

left to right. By the time the exposure was complete, the top of the

lights were completely obscured by the fog.

    Sacha,

I was going to send you an email, but decided to share the details here. This image is the result of approximately 250 images aligned/stacked in a program called Registax and then processed in Photoshop.

The reason things aren't clearer is because it's too early to by making this image. I need to wait until Saturn is higher in the sky so I'm not looking through so much atmosphere.

    Hope that helps.

I have to disagree with Stacy. I think this cluster looks best in a nice wide field image like this one. I feel it loses it's magice if you isolate it too much.

This is stunning! I think it's the light that makes this so magical. It's a great rendition of a well established composition.

I don't know if it's that the face is too sharp or just too much sharper than the rest of the image. Either way, I agree the image needs more balance. Her head looks too big.

    However, the lighting is wonderful.

This is a great idea, but I think it would be better represented if the tree were more isolated. This composition seems to be a bit flat for me.

  2. Pat,

I went and looked at your folder. I commented on one (the one from inside the temple). I think I'd work on having less of the white foreground in some of those shots. It's overwhelming the rest of the image. Otherwise, I think there's some wonderful stuff going on there!

You mentioned a black spot in the left portion of the sky. I'm not seeing it, could you be please point it out more closely for me?

    thanks,

    Dave

  3. This is my favorite of this folder. Something about the surreal (sp?) look of the interior really draws my attention. The spidery effects in the upper portion of the image are a little bit distracting, but I don't suppose there was much to be done about that.

It sure is fun/frustrating working with IR, isn't it?

This is a great image Phil! I am definitely a sucker for mist and fog. I love the way things fade off in the distance.

Having said that, I agree with a previous comment regarding the brighter green grass in the foreground. If you just use the scroll bar in your browser to crop it out, the image feels more balanced.

Either way, I love the image. Great job!
