What would be your professional recommendations for a start
up lighting package to shoot tabletop and food using 35mm
DSLR.
I am looking for a set up that can later be expanded as the need
arises.
Previous threads mention a minimum of 1200ws with 3 heads,
however and since shooting 35mm digital in a studio with a fair
amount of daylight, it would help to get more precise
suggestions regarding which configuration is most versatile for
the application I intend to use this for ; power pack? monolights?
a combination ?
What are the considerations to keep in mind when using DSLR
and electronic flash? Safe Sync has also been mentioned in
previous threads , are there limitations to the amount of power
that can be transmitted via this device ?
The main consideration is to simulate/supplement daylight
already available which brings me to my next question do all
studio strobes have the same color temperature given the same
ws? If not which ones are best at approximating daylight?
Many questions... but thanks to all in adavance for sharing your
expertise.

Could someone explain what one should look out for when
using a manually focussed lens on a DSLR ? As for instance
using a 85mm f2.8 pc micro nikkor on Fuji S2 or a comparable .
What does PC stand for in this designation ?
If anyone has used this particular combination of equipment, I
would greatly appreciate their technical feedback and a peek at
what the lens can do. Thank you. Vic.

Which lens(es) would one recommend for crisp, versatile results
for firstly : medium size tabletop set-ups of organics (food,
plants) and secondly macro set-ups, with either D100 or FujiS2.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.Vic.

What does "PAR" stand for in many of the HMI lighting
designations ?
What would be your recommendation for a start-up HMI kit. What
type of head(s) ? wattage ? The application would essentially be
: 35mm digital tabletop food photography . The goal is to
supplement / simulate available daylight .
Is the physical heat output something one should be concerned
about ? Any disadvantages to using HMI lights despite cost ?
Thank you for any additional information you can share in
regards to this specific application.

Hasselblad V96 C 16 Megapixels Back
in Medium Format
Posted
Has anyone had any experience in using the Hasselblad V96 C
16 Megapixels digital back ? How would you rate this piece
equipment ? What is your experience of the software bundled
with it ?
There is very little information out there regarding this back
except for sale pitch - feedback from familiar users would be
appreciated.
Also, looking to get into digital MF to shoot food and macro.
Is there one MFcamera better suited for that particular
application? How about digital MF ?
What do pro food shooters are most likely to use ?
What do more money conscious shooters are likely to use ?
Thanks for your feedback
