1. Hi,

The error you encounter is exactly a bad shutter. I had this issu with my D2H, 2 times, and I ask Nikon to replace the shutter mecanism. It took 5 days and actually, my D2h who is 14 yrs old, has is third new shutter and I have 25,463 shots...

I also have a D2Xs in perfect working order, and I use it !!

  2.
Hi all,
Actually, with my Df, I use some of my old lenses.
20mm f:3.5 AI
24mm f:2.8 AIS
28mm f:2.8 AIS
50mm f:1.2 AIS
105mm f:2.5 AIS
135mm f:2.8 N-AI (was for my Nikkormat ftn)
Rarely use AF lens on this body.
All these lenses work very well with this vintage (allure) body. Back to manual operation is just a wonderful joy !
Have fun with it !
3.
+1 with Michael Bradtke : I also use a D4 and I always have a second backpack with D2H and D2Xs as backup. But for sports, I always have the D4 and the D2H with differents lenses hooked on these bodies, for the high frame rate I need to follow the action. The big diff. between my D4 and D2H is the 16mpx and 4.1mpx... But for the newspaper publication, the important is to get the ultimate shot !!
If the shooting is more relax, I replace the D2H by the D2Xs... And of course, I swap regulary between the D4 and D2Xs... It is faster to use the second body as changing lens !!
Have fun with your FX and DX !!
Denis

  4.
Hi Klemen,
Why wanting to stay with the F90X ?? The price of used film cameras is very good and you can find a Nikon F100 for a very good price. I have two F100 and it is joy to use them !
5. Did you think about a very good Nikkon 20mm f:3.5 AIS ?

For interior on a tripod it is excellent and not really expensive, and alson easy to find in an excellent used cond.

  6. Hi John,

For the car adapter, you can find it at any electronic shop, and it comes with a set of differents connectors. Just have to be carefull to always respect the polarity with the center pin to be positive 5 volts.

On the power supply I read : Output : DC +5v at 2.8A...

I already have this kind of adapter for my ham radio kit...

    Ciao

  7. Ok...

I think I already download 3 times in the same day of shooting... At this time I used 2 Gigs cards and I never go to a full card... Near 1.5 Gigs of load each time...

I also note something... As my coolwalker is supposed to be full charge, the battery icon is never showing a full charge state... So I think I'll have to check each cells in the battery... And after the check, I'll probably have to blast the defect cell, using an electrolytic condenser... sometime, a cell can also reverse polarity... So I'll have to change this defect cell or all the cells...

I'll see what is the best to do and the cheaper way to recover the full working state off my coolwalker...

  8. Hi,

I had this problem, 1 yr and a half, ago... My D2H did this every time on the first shot after a 2 hour of sleeping... My body had 65k shots... Nikon Canada replaced the shutter system and everything run fine since this repair and the new shutter has 30k shots done...

And YES, this problem is known at Nikon...

  9. Hi Glynn,

I already had this problem with my D2H after 25,329 shots... This problem is a default shutter... Usually, it happened only on my first shot after my D2H slept for at least 3 hours... All other shots were OK without any problem...

Nikon replaced the shutter and I received my D2h with a new shutter and all cleaned... It took only 5 days for the repair...

    Denis.
