More than anything, this shot suggests "longing" or "sadness." The tulip bending over, trying to reach its lost petal, and not able to reach it. Reaching for something that was once a part of it, and now is hopelessly separated. A simple and profound beauty. Very good eye. A little botanical allegory. -- Victor

I especially enjoy photographs of beauty on a modest scale. I mean, the Rockies, Alps, Alaska, etc., are all spectacularly beautiful. You can just about point a camera and get an incredible shot. But finding a quite creek and clumps of marsh grass, and then creating such an evocative sense of peace, stillness, calm, etc. Well, it's a very splendid shot, really. Nice picture.

I think you got everything exactly right in this picture. Both the color and the focus bring just the right attention to the subject while creating a fine mood (sad, romantic, gray?) about the image. It's quite beautiful.

I was unaware that the Mississippi River extended all the way up into Ontario, Canada. But very nice photograph!

It's a classical type statue, but somehow the facial features look modern. Maybe proportions, or expression. Just something I wouldn't expect on the parthenon, etc. Nice photo.

Cinematic! The "back lighting" and brown shading challenge the viewer to adjust his/her impression from backdrop/scenery to simple reality. Very evocative. You almost expect a "surrie with a fringe on top" to come bounding over the hill!

What I especially like about your photograph is that the color of the sky in the reflection is so different from the actual color in the sky. It sort of gives you two choices about how you want to take in the buildings & background. I can stare at it a bit and kind of get lost in reverie looking at the overcast actual sky, then look down at the water and think of a spring or summer day, deep-blue sky, bright daytime colors, etc. Like two daydreams for the price of one!

How about the title: "Who ordered the pastrami ...?"

It reminded me a little bit of Peter Bruegel's "Hunters in the Snow" picture, only without the hunters and dogs. Or any people, I suppose. The perspective from a hilltop overlooking flat ice. Not really 1:1, but just an impression. (see http://www.abcgallery.com/B/bruegel/bruegel79.html). I enjoyed viewing your photograph.
