  1. I recognized the image right away from your earlier post (quite a while ago, wasn't it?). I compared the two, and think you got a much better capture on this one. Still the sundown and shadows, but you caught the scene just a few moments earlier and this time got some nice--but still subdued--detail on the rolling hills. These were darkened out more on the earlier one, but both captured the rhododendrons nicely. This one has a few more points of drama for me, not just the sun and flowers, but other landscape elements compliment the scene without, I feel, detracting from these two focal points. Really nice shot. ~Victor

More than anything, this shot suggests "longing" or "sadness." The tulip bending over, trying to reach its lost petal, and not able to reach it. Reaching for something that was once a part of it, and now is hopelessly separated. A simple and profound beauty. Very good eye. A little botanical allegory. -- Victor

I especially enjoy photographs of beauty on a modest scale. I mean, the Rockies, Alps, Alaska, etc., are all spectacularly beautiful. You can just about point a camera and get an incredible shot. But finding a quite creek and clumps of marsh grass, and then creating such an evocative sense of peace, stillness, calm, etc. Well, it's a very splendid shot, really. Nice picture.

I think you got everything exactly right in this picture. Both the color and the focus bring just the right attention to the subject while creating a fine mood (sad, romantic, gray?) about the image. It's quite beautiful.
  2. Cinematic! The "back lighting" and brown shading challenge the viewer to adjust his/her impression from backdrop/scenery to simple reality. Very evocative. You almost expect a "surrie with a fringe on top" to come bounding over the hill!

  3. What I especially like about your photograph is that the color of the sky in the reflection is so different from the actual color in the sky. It sort of gives you two choices about how you want to take in the buildings & background. I can stare at it a bit and kind of get lost in reverie looking at the overcast actual sky, then look down at the water and think of a spring or summer day, deep-blue sky, bright daytime colors, etc. Like two daydreams for the price of one!
