  1. My mother just informed of a lunar esclipse tonite! Awesome. I have

a 10D with lots of BP-11's cuz its getting cold here in WI. Grr..

I will be using a Canon 100-400 L/IS/USM with the 2X II to get me to

800mm. I have done some lunar shots of the full moon and such

before with some good shots. Is this any different than shooting

    that.?

I shoot in ISO100, Evaluative Metering, and usually stop it down -2

or so. Should I center my exposure level indicator, and then stop

it down, or stop it down with shutter/aperture, or which way gives

    better results?

    Just curious.

    Thanks a lot!

  2. Mine does that as well. It has done it since I got my 10D. It did make a lil to almost no noise with my 7e, but with the 10D, she likes to make a lot of noise.

I'm curious Hyun, what is your serial # on your 28-135? Maybe it was a botched batch? Who knows.

Let me know if you take it to the shop and have them look at it.

    Thanks alot!

  3. I shot the local HS homecoming game. After 15 minutes I gave up. The lighting was horrible and even my 550ex wasn't helping. I am shooting a 10D with the 100-400mm IS/L/USM and was on my mono pod. Even at 4.5 I was having trouble. I played around with the flash on full auto E-TTL and that was worthless.

I went to full manual mode and couldn't get the numbers right. I saw two gents from the local newspapers, one with a primed Canon L 400mm, if not a 600mm, it looked HUGE. I have shot with a 400mm, and its amazing. The other man was using a Nikon setup with at least the Nikon 400mm. Both had speedflashes.

Is there any way to get better photos? Even with 100mm at 4.5 with ISO 1600? the 'H' setting on the 10D is good for artsy stuff but not a football game.

Also, what would a 550ex flash be set at for that type of shooting? I was totally lost, got annoyed by kids who know me, packed up and left. lol.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. I dunno if I am just retarded with this... that moon shoot, what lens did you shoot that with? I have the Canon 100-400 L/USM/IS and i can't get even near that, or was that zoomed/cropped in post production?

Those fireworks, just stunning. As well as the moon. Maybe for some reason im stupid. i know a good reason why, i was in a horrible car accident, no my fault, and my head only hit road at 75+ with a 4000lbs car on top of me, so my brain isnt working right. ill putz around with it more...

do any of you know of a good book for high end digital cameras?

    thanks again for the help!

  5. I have my 10d, and its an amazing camera is all aspects... but last

nite, for any of you in the midwest, u know of the two storm cells

that came pounding thru the area. i 360 degrees of MASSIVE heat and

grond strikes. I tried everything with this camera, and I was sadly

about to grab my tripod and toss the whole thing into Pewaukee lake

and pull out the good ol 7e and get the pics....

my best guess is that nite schooting with a digital is based souly

on what you have the white balance, or color temp set at... am i

    wrong?

I know the digital SLRs are fairly new, so I have looked and havent

seen any good books for them... is there a website or a cheatsheet

or something i can look at to figure this out?

    Thanks much!
