  1. Good idea. I like the composition. A couple of thoughts on focus: Think carefully where you want the exact plane of focus to be. Where do you want to be really sharp? Maybe the bridge of the glasses. What kind of depth of field? I mention this because it would be fun to see if you could make more of a distinction in what is sharp _behind_ the lenses and what you see straight through.
  2. I took this last week, before Tropical Storm Allison went through! I

was looking to see how the very pronounced grain would work with the

texures of rain and plants. Does the out-of focus foreground help to

direct the eye or does it detract?

    - Thanks for comments.

  3. I really like looking at this one. I can almost feel the coolness at the bottom of the stairway and going back up into the light. The new looking rope with the old stairs makes a good accent. I lived in Mexico for 8 1/2 years and saw some similar things - but I didn't get the shot! Here's a little one for you, for thanks.

  4. Thanks, I'd considered it! As it was, I had to get down on my knees in a busy street to make the shot. Actually, my dream realization of this would be to show a dog's nose just peeking into the right part of the frame. More humorous depth?

I enjoy the picture. A nice "flash of life." I think the timing is perfect. I prefer the composition as it is more than cropped. It has attracted more than its share of strange comments! It might be good to know what relation the title bears to the subject - one of a series? As for deep questions of "meaning"; not so important, perhaps. It is just a momentary view, with a feeling of atmosphere, successfuly captured. For a moment, I am taken to that place/mood.
  5. Lovely in its own way. If you get the opportunity

to do some more, you might try:

1)cropping the sides a bit to make it even more a

pattern study. As much as I like it, I find the small amount of columns a bit of a tease. So, you could:

    2) show more of the columns - a vertical orientation, perhaps?

You might make a series. I was in this passage once when there were some street musicians playing a marimba. Anything like that around?
