  1. A common problem. Almost for sure capacitor C7 1s faulty. This capacitor is a Tantulum 150mfd 3.15 v . these capacitors cost about $1.20 Australian here for a 6.3v one.Tantulum type is necessary for leakage + space consideration. You access this capacitor by removing the bottom panel (4 small screws ,about 30 seconds with GOOD screwdriver).

The capacitor is directly under to one side, soldered to the flexible pc board. with care + attention to polarity etc, replace . Its a good idea to test capacitor first to confirm fault ,good readings can be taken while on board but if in doubt remove for test . The last one I did had drifted to 44mfd eg no shutter release. This camera had identical symptoms. So for about $1 and 5 minutes, fix your own.You should test and select the replacement capacitor to be spot on as some components can be poor in the tolerance area. Maybe dont take this on yourself without reasonable tool skills , tools, and a little understanding of what you may do to chips etc with a bit of static charge and the pc board is a delicate thing in relation to an overheated soldering iron. But a quick and easy job otherwise.
