understanding what the difference between these two units are. Sales

person in the store yesterday knew close to nothing, and I was

wondering if there is any more features built in Pocket wizard

Multimax in adition to having more chanels and being able to work ans

transmitter and receiver?

Hi everybody,

I have got the Canon 10D couple weeks ago and I have a problem with

the white color. I took some pictures on my friend�s wedding last

weekend and I noticed that bride�s dress turned very strange on some

photos (Large JPGs). It looks as if it was fluorescent white with no

details.

On another hand, some photos I took in shadows have blue cast on

them. I tried working on it in PS but couldn�t fix it.

I suspect it might have to do something with the white balance on my

camera (I have it on auto), but on some other posts I found

recommendations to leave it on auto since it should work fine or at

least give acceptable results.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Tony, I had the same dilemma and after talking to several photographers and had great response on my question on photo.net (look for my posting from couple days ago) I placed an order for 550ex today. Missing AF assist light on the lower and upper focusing points should not make that huge difference and having other manual functions and extra power might help a lot. I did search around and B&H has the best price on this model ($ 299-329).

I have placed order for the Speedlite 550 (gray market) and it will be shipped using regular post service (not UPS). It looks like a saving of over 200 CAD ordering it this way instead going to local dealer in Toronto. I hope it arrives without problems.

Since I am not in hurry, I can ship via AIR PARCEL POST and avoid any UPS surprises.

If I understood properly, in order to avoid any additional charges, I would have to purchase product made in USA ¡V not GREY MARKET import.

Is this right or it does not meter where the product is made?

I am looking to order the Speedlite 550 from the B&H in USA and have

it shipped in Canada. Does anybody have any experiences ordering and

shipping equipment across the border? Am I going to be charged any

Canadian custom fees in addition to shipping and Canadian taxes?

I have an EOS 30/Elan 7E and am looking to purchase a flesh for it.

I am looking for unit that would serve me better on the long run

since I will try doing some wedding photography and possibly buying

the Canon EOS-3 in the near future. My dilemma is deciding between

the Speedlite 420 and the Speedlite 550. The 420 seems to be more

compatible with my ELAN 7E since it emits the low light focusing

light with all 7 focusing points vs. 550 that covers only 5 of them.

On the other side 550 is stronger and has more features.

Does anybody have experience using 550 or 420 with the Elan 7E?

Would you consider 420 to be good enough to do some serious wedding

photography?
