I cleaned the contacts in the past with no success but, your suggestion gave me an idea, it prompted me to re-clean and adjust the contacts instead. I'm happy to say, my camera has been working fine ever since your post.
THANKS AGAIN MANUEL!!!

In a previous thread, I alluded to an on going dilemma Ive been
having with my Maxxum 5. The on/off switch seems to malfunction every
chance it gets. This has become really annoying. Instead of lighting
up when switched on, the battery indicator flashes even when the
batteries are replaced. This issue is addressed in manual briefly.
The manual suggests that the switch be placed off, and back to on 3
times (reset). This never worked for me so I sent the camera in for
repair (twice) nevertheless, Im still dealing with the same issue.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your comments in advance...

I own a Maxxum 5 however, if I could do it all over again, I would seriously consider the 7 despite the price increase. Why? Over the past 2 years Ive had numerous problems with the on/off switch, the weight of the camera, and the night metering capabilities verses the 7. Im not bashing the 5, overall I think its a good camera. Im just stating that the 7 would be a better choice (obviously).

If at all possible, try posting one your photos to the forum, it would be a big help in diagnosing your problem.

Correct me if Im wrong but on my Maxxum 5 if the indicator is blinking, the exposure is out of range for the camera if manually set. Is this only for automatic exposures?

Over the next few weeks Im planning on making the transition from
print to slide film. Night photography, cityscapes, and portraits are
the bulk of my shots. Where I can find detail, non-bias information
on which types of film to use based on different shooting situations?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, my wallet isn't as large as my view however, I dont mind spending a little for something thats worth it. How Wide? Im not sure if Minolta makes one but, a (24mm f/1.4) or wider lens would be great.

Thanks again to all of you who helped me with my fisheye dilemma. It
saved me the stress of having a non-working, non-fitting lens for my
camera. Now I have a new dilemma, I need to buy a few more lens for
an upcoming project. The project involves taking day and night photos
of city/landscapes in a wide-angle view. So far, Ive been using
the kit lens that came with my Maxxum 5, the Tamron (28-80mm f3.5-
5.6) and (70-300mm f4-5.6). Both are fairly decent lens but
unfortunately they are not enough to accomplish my goal. Can any of
you recommend a lens that has preformed exceptionally well in your
opinion for this particular situation? Again... Thanks in advance!

I was thinking of purchasing a low end fisheye lens in the near
future. However, I'm not quite sure if the lens I had in mind would
actually fit on my Maxxum 5. From what I've read on different web
sites, an educated guess would be NO. Below you will find the lens in
question. Thank you for your help in advance.
- MC ZENITAR 2.8/16 lens
- Minolta MD mount
- Russian Made
Have you experience this with your Maxxum 5?
