I read about the PN-11 tube in John Shaw's Closeups in Nature. Does anyone know any other extension tubes which can be used with an N80 which has a tripod collar? Anyone knows whether Kenko AF tubes have this? I heard Kenko is the only one which has AF coupling.

Although I haven't bought it myself, I have heard many people saying the best book on N80 is "Thom Hogan's Complete Guide to the Nikon N80".
Check out http://www.bythom.com/n80guide.htm

Nikon makes DX series lens which are made specifically for Digital SLRs. I agree that they are costly. May be the following link will help you.

Or just do a search on google.

One more vote for the 28-105 and the 50mm 1.8 AFD. You can never go wrong with this combination.

BR-2A & F80
in Nikon
I dont have an extnernal meter. And definitely no spare body. So, I gues, I will have to meter first and then reverse the lens. -
Thanks to all the inputs. But I am still confused. :-(

BR-2A & F80
in Nikon
Once I connect the 50mm 1.8 AFD on the BR-2A and after mounting it on
my F80, F80 shows only the shutter speed. It does not show the
aperture value. So, how do I meter? I mean I can set the aperture
using the aperture ring. But how do I know what shutter speed I should
use for getting proper exposure for that aperture? Is using an
external light meter the only option?

Apologies for the cross posting. I also posted this in the Photogrpahy
Books section. I thought I would get better responses from here. Hence
the posting.
I am a beginner in macro photogrpahy and would like to buy John Shaw's
"Closeups in Nature". Amazon is offering two combos.
1. Closeups in Nature (John Shaw) + Nature Photography Field Guide
(John Shaw).
2. Closeups in Nature (John Shaw) + The Complete Guide to Close Up &
Macro Photography (Paul Harcourt Davies)
I am a bit confused on which combo to buy.
Does "Nature Photography Field Guide" deal with macro techniques? Or
is it a generic field guide? I read some reviews on Amazon and what I
got from that is that it is a general field guide to photography.
Do you think once I have the "Closeups in nature", "The Complete Guide
to Close Up & Macro Photography" wont be that useful?

I have this lens and found it to be quite useful. For the type of photographs I take, this is quite sufficient. It all depends on what you expect the lens to do. If you dont want to carry a lot of lenses and would like to have an all in one, go for this. You wont be disappointed.

I have an F80, Nikkor 50mm 1.8 AFD, Sigma 28-200 3.5-5.6 IF Macro. I
would like to try my hand on macro photography. I am confused with the
buying options available. What do you think will be a good starting point?
1. Kenko AF Extension Tubes ($150 at B&H)
2. 52mm Close-up Lens Kit (#1, #2) ($40 at B&H)
3. Nikon BR-2A to use with my 50mm Nikkor ($22 at B&H)
I would like to keep my investment minimal before I am sure that macro
is my way. But if it is worth the investment, then I dont mind
spending some extra bucks. Do you think spending $150 on the Kenko
Extension Tube is worth?
Also, are these the same?

If so, why is the price difference? Or is it because the last two are
for MF bodies and only the first one is for AF?
Thanks in advance.

I wanted to know how to use the macro capability of the SIGMA 28-200
f3.5-5.6 ASPHERICAL COMPACT HYPERZOOM MACRO II lens. I dont find any
switch for macro shots on the lens. Or does it automatically reduce
the closest focusing distance one you zoom to 200mm? Anyone who has
used this lens please help me.
I have a 50mm 1.8 Nikkor and I am planning to buy the Kenko Auto
Extension Tubes (12, 20 & 35mm) for macro. I would like to know
whether this (Kenko auto extension tubes) can be used along with the
Sigma 28-200.

"I don't think that's exactly true, though, because doesn't the white diffuser panel of the SB-50dx cover the built-in flash? "
You can use the SB-50DX and the built-in speedlight together without the diffuser covering the built-in speedlight. But as you said when used with the diffuser, the guide number will be different.

I am looking at buying a 50mm lens for my Nikon N80. The Nikkor is
half the price of Sigma and it has a wider apreture too. I guess the
Sigma is costlier due to the macro capability. Could anyone help me
with a comparison of the two lenses?
