I've been there too. Personally I prefer this view from a little further to the left where you can separate the two nearest windmills and avoid cropping the nearest. Also I seem to recall some rather nice colour in the wood - but perhaps you had miserable weather?

I think most people would say this is too much - well a lot too much actually. And it never ever looks this bad in the viewfinder does it? Your white subject won't have helped of course, but maybe I'd question whether you needed the polariser at all- looks to me like the sky would have been pretty saturated already. If you do use a polariser, it doesn't just have two positions - on and off -. By tiny rotations you can set intermediate positions which are most often the most appropriate use of the filter.

She's not a Matriarch - probably just hungry. I like this a lot, though I think the very bright area top right is somewhat distracting, particularly since the light in the photograph clearly isn't coming from there. I know you couldn't eliminate it, but maybe you could have de-emphasised it in the printing.
