Soooo, to everyone who's so upset, do you get equally upset when Intel or AMD introduces a new processor and you just put the 'old' one in your system? What about when the car manufacturer puts out a new model after you just bought your new shiny ride? What about your cell phone? Yeah, that too. I could go on but it's the way it is, folks. And no, I don't necessarily like it either (had 2 40D's before I traded them for a Mark II) but that's the way it works. Heck, who wouldn't rather have NOW what they want next year and the year after that. In this case, you can thank Nikon and Sony.

I sold both my 40d's a while back and got a Mark II instead. For AI Servo, the Mark II far exceeds the 40D in my experience. So I have no regrets. As usual, YMMV.

Camera bodies come and go. Good lenses on the other hand, hang around a long time. Have you considered a good used 30D and using the balance of the cash for some more glass (like the 70-200 f4)?
