Gerry, I got a similar comment and rating from this baffoon on the same day about a fireworks shot not being a portrait. I take him for the troll that he is.
This is a very enjoyable picture to view; I like how the blue sky contrasts with the yellowish foreground.

Brian, could you elaborate? Please forgive my incredible ignorance of photography but as someone who is self taught and is trying to learn, "NOT A PORTRAIT" isn't very helpful. Do you mean to be shouting that it's not a portrait and therefore rule of thirds don't apply? I noticed that you made similar cerebal comments to 2 other people. Should portraits generaly follow the rule of thirds? Thanks in advance for any actual helpful comments, I await your sage advice.

I wanted to put this picture up as an example of the optics of cheap generation 1 Russian night vision device. I think it's a F1.2 optic. You get what you pay for...

They're a protest marching band. What? Doesn't every city have a protest marching band?

Thanks for the honesty :>)

How would you crop this, if you would crop it?
-
Could someone please comment on how they might crop this shot, if they would crop it? Rule of thirds says to put the Space Needle off to the side but this (almost) uncropped shots shows the most action. I rotated this picture 1 degree to the right and trimmed it slightly. This was shot under windy conditions, you can see the fireworks being blown slightly to the side.

I had a hard time holding the camera still due to the pain I was in. Those are pepper spray droplets on the camera lens.

My own critique is the tree in the foreground. I had my Dimage 7 in a plastic bag on a monopod. It took about 15 shots to get one with no camera shake. 1 second exposure. I now have a nice tripod.

They saw I was just a photographer and left me alone. They were nice enough. I need to work on my composure, I keep cutting off feet. Commo van in background.

I was also hit by this cop. I think he realized that he made a big mistake with all of the cameras around. Right after this shot was taken people had to jump in between the two because she wanted to come to blows. Wow, was she mad!

I agree on hindsight. Thanks for the comment.

Idiot? Perhaps. This person tried to light the flag on fire but couldn't. He was arrested I believe for attempted arson.

Thanks for the comments. I'm learning!

I got a similar comment and 1/1 rating from Brian about a fireworks shot not being a portrait. He's been abusing other people too.
Is the sun setting behind you that's creating the nice warm colors on the buildings? I like the framing of the trees in each corner.
