Please feel free to comment - best viewed large. Thanks.

Impossible to believe that anyone would rate this 3/3. Just from a technical point of view this is stunning. Aesthetically, it is superb, with a lovely clean background and fine bokeh. Unless you hate owls, of course…
Er, looking at the ratings breakdown, I can't see anything below a 5. Maybe common sense has prevailed. Please keep posting these wonderful images and thank you for this one.

Great shot with all vessels under full sail with a "painterly" feel.
The foreground and sky add interest and the colour palette is beautiful.
Was the sea that colour?
Is this part of the "tall ships" event?

Less is once again more. Simple, well-judged, highly effective.
Niggle: the trees showing through on the LHS, above the walkway. Presumably irredeemable without sacrificing the symmetry of the support cables or finding a different viewpoint (I'm glad you weren't tempted to clone them out!)

Excellent capture - my kind of photo, admittedly.
I'm wondering if everyone is viewing this as it is meant to be seen. In my Internet Explorer, it comes up as distinctly "underexposed", with significant loss of detail in the shadows. Loading it into my alternative to PS (Picture Window) I note that you have profiled using active2.icm. If I convert to sRGB (for my monitor) I get a much better rendition, without loss of detail and with obvious highlights. Am I just being sloppy using IE in the first place, or would it be helpful to remove your custom colour profile before uploading?

Great colours!
Did you modify the sky in PS or is the capture "as-is" at sunset?

We all have "accidents" with our photos. Some work, some do not. I like this one, so it works for me. I'm not going to presume to analyse it, or elaborate on my response. It just works!
Incidentally, I'm surprised that you are having contrast problems with your Minolta Dimage Scan Elite II. It seems to have a very good contrast range (at least for me). Please e-mail me if you want to discuss this point further - we can always take it to the forums if other people are interested!.
