Jan, thank you for taking the time to look at this photo. There's a reason why I'm suspicious of the anonymous ratings of 3/3. It has a lot more to do with the subject in the photo. I'm glad that there are genuine people who are open and helpful. Thank you for being one of those.

Why do anonymous people give ratings? What purpose does that serve?
-
Jan, that's a night light. I couldn't do anything with it at the time. I could PS it away, maybe. But this is how it was shot. Long exposure, handheld. Maybe 1/15 or 1/8.

Curious as to your opinions. Thanks, James

I agree, Mike. Any non-personal Korean shots?

This one almost won a photo contest in Washington, DC, today, but the judging was turned over to a visiting Chinese photojournalist who didn't like it as much. I think it is a decent pic, but not worth winning any contest. Yet it was selected first overall by a dinstinguished colleague who is a much better photographer than I am. He and I work with film--he entirely in black and white and almost entirely in MF and LF, whereas I only shoot in 35mm Leica... So many people who know what they are doing and so many completely different ideas on what they like. This is what makes all art--and especially photography--exciting. This is just one that I will keep for my memory of the moment.

Alex, there will be a silent Al Kaplan film within the next several months. Trust me, you will enjoy it. I will try to find a technical way to post it online.

Gabriel, that's her. Strange world. She looks much better than this pic.

Elsen, maybe you miss the point of the photograph. Alex is "writing" with the light and the subject and the mood and with his editorial thoughts as to when and how to take the photograph. All of those decisions lend strength to the technical aspects of the work. But more importantly, the style of the photographer comes through amid all of his choices. This is a very nice piece of work.

Alex, I love it! Her hair seems to flow right into his cheek. Great expressions!

That's from a poor flatbed scan.

Crop the right side?

Untouched slide of a room. Do the nuances and does the found
lighting work?

Does this work with the equipment? Nothing like I used before for
sports.
