i think i will try the panasonic out even if it has a x2 ratio and the 4/3. i can put my old primes and compare with film to improve my digital skills, thanks god i still have a 2 years old child so i can easily experiment in my house .

you also gave me a good idea, my friend has a lot of old pentax glasses to try on the lumix.

i'm afraid my budget is the r8 and a summarit to trade, a full frame is too much for me now, maybe i will go with panasonic just to remain in the leica glass stable, hoping some good news for the future. thankyou for helping.

i need your opinion on my gear and i thankyou in advance for it.

i have leica m (m5 + 35 50 90 135) and leica reflex (sl-r8 + 21 28 50 90) all

old lenses, now i want a digital reflex for my people pictures, mostly my

children, and for b/w digital.

my intention is to trade the r8 because i prefer the sl,and for money reasons!,

with a digital reflex of similar price, nikon (d80), canon or panasonic l1,

even used. i already have a lumix fx01 that is good but is too different

from a 90 summicron or a 50 summilux wide open, i like narrow focus area and

leica bokeh. which dreflex is good for my purposes ? what about a summicron on

a lumix l1 ?

I like this lens very much, clever people have leica lenses for nothing !!! You can also use it wide open without bothering to stop down. I take it everywhere without fear of damaging it. Well done Claude !

I'm afraid you have to wait for another gift !!!! I have m5 with 35 preasph and if I press the lens on the rubber o-ring glued to the camera(not to scratch the plastic lenses ) I can barely see the frameline of 35. You can swap your m6 with a 72 if you need only one.

With the spared money you can always buy a 1,25 ocular for 90mm and 135mm.

35mm Leica is the best gift I can think of. Happy shooting.

A IIIf is so beautiful that is a joy to use , Leica should sell new-old lenses for Barnack cameras and new accessories, so we can help Leica to survive. We all want leica never die, I would also buy Leica shares for fans and supporters!!!!! Maybe the perfect lenses for our IIIs would be an elmar 3,5 new from Solms similar to the Voigtlander Heliar limited edition. Maybe just now Hermes is hiring mr Kobayashi for "Leica the second comeback"!!!

Last but not least Zeiss (and Contax ) cameras in 35mm means bad luck. Zeiss has killed several cameras and systems and now is the m- system turn!!

The FZ20 is the ultra zoom camera to beat now.

Only the big electronic companies can compete with so expensive stabilized sensor, and if you use the 430 without a tripod the stabilized sensor is fundamental. Waste no time, otherwise sony will announce a new ultrazoom and you'll never take pics!!!

Dear digital friends,

i'm using the FZ20 for skiing, together with a Leica IIIf, and I need

a bag to attach the camera to the shoulder strap of my backpack, so

to be always ready to shot. It must be well fixed, small and of easy

access. Do I ask too much? I also need to fix the lens cap, but this

is an easy task.

The batteries are in full charge, now i'll try to clean the contacts,but I think it must be something mechanical because the weight of the film makes the trick. Otherwise I'll send to the Italian importer or directly to Solms maybe it costs the same.

Dear Leica friends,

if I don't have film in my r8 the camera is ok but with film the

camera doesn't fire, if I press the button nothing happens and I go

on advancing the film till the end of the film!!!

DO you have any guess ? The battery display is full and the camera

has always worked well. Thankyou for your counselling.

I bought the lumix fz20 and i'm very happy with because

- i have my supertele in my small bag always with me

- the stabilizer helps you so much to get steady shots

- the zoom is fast

- I don't expect too much from a tiny sensor

- the price is very good

- no tripod = more pics

- I use only 80 asa

- I finally have a Leica zoom!!

Some reviewers often pick up some items they do like and they do not mention other brands. If you like high end binos you must realize that among the best brands Leica Zeiss Swarovski and Nikon have always the best products. More important Leica Camera is a very small company compare to the others three, Leica products have to be always perfect because perfection it's what a Leica customer wants and that's why he pays so much.

I have the trinovid 8x20 and 10x25 and I like them very much, but if you want the best compact ever buy the new Leica ultravids, if you go to www.leica-camera.com you can see them.

Summicron 90 2 for visoflex and 50 summilux not asph for m and r. Every picture wide open is a masterpiece of colour and shapes. I also like the 35 2 asph but i'm not in love with it.

I think that in this business you can tell the difference between managers that go from automotive to farmaceutical and photography lovers like kobayashi that knows haw many would like to use a IIIf with an unscratched lens or a new meter or a beautiful finder.

SL is like a tank, i bought for 190 euro a chrome one with a 50 summicron on ebay, I think it's the cheapest way to enter in leica world , you'll find all lenses you want .I changed 2 r4 for little electronics problem ,with old cameras no electronic is better.

Among leica users there is the mtf sharpness party too, and Erwin Putz is the chief commander, but I wonder why in lf most pictures of bokeh are from non leica lenses, maybe it's a too much discussed question. Here is my unrequested advice : try yourself the big pleasure of shooting wide open with ridiculus cheap leica lenses kings of bokeh like old 50 2 and 50 1,4 for leicaflex or 90 2 old for m or r. There is no meter for bokeh, like for many things, so it's up to your eyes.

I think you should try longer lens full open to understand if it focus properly, best if you use lenses you know are ok for leica cameras. I I ever buy a digital m I'll take with me the 75 1,4 or the 90 2 so to be sure it works properly from the beginning.
