  4. David welcome to New Orleans. Your soul will guide you as to why and what your here for.

Two weeks after Katrina, the event was not even a topic on "Meet the Press" It's citizens like Dennis and others who have with their photos brought a personal and human angle to forums like this.

Photography will maintain tha nation's awareness of "Remenber New Orleans" alive.

Thank you David for your interest.

  5. I have an M3DS and a 50mm/DR also. The lens had the same condition you described. About i year ago I sent it to Golden Touch, with the M3 for a CLA.

What i got back was awsome. Do not know what they looked like when new, but the returned set was pristine. The DR is a photo taker with no known rival.

Get it cleaned and you'll be delighted.

  6. As always your photos are great. As a fellow New Orleanian your work is an example of the artistic treasure of this great city. I sure hope that you will be able to recover as well as possible. Please advice if there is any way I can be of help to you and your family.

I live in River Ridge which was spared any catastrophic event as you've experienced. Hope that you are still employed. I miss all the great shots you take during your "lunch hour".

Did you return home today? Was your zip code included in the areas opened? Good luck and do not hesitate to contact me.

  7. Still in the city but getting that feeling that the time to go is come. Katrina's strength and the fact that it may pound the city for 10hrs @ 135 or greater does not leave much doubt.

Will leave with the family and all my Leica gear. As the say all else is replaceable.

We all here need to thank people /profesionals like you who remain to serve the less fortunate who are unable to leave and those stuborn ones who stay.

Good luck to you and your family. Hope we meet some day after this is over. The Leicas will survive.

  8. Can the 40/2.0 Summicron CL (Germany) and the 90/4.0 Rokkor CL

(Germany) be used with the M3. Iam aware that some M lenses may not

be used on the CL. On the other hand info on the CL lenses used on

the M3 is not clear to me( focusing cam?).

  9. I have a similar lens. When I got it I could not find its serial #. Well, one of the members told me where to look. As you look at the front element, there is the 1st black locking ring of the lens on its surface. The serial number is inscribed in a most minute size.

To see it go to a well lit area with a magnifing lens and turn it around and you will see it. Once you've got it, go the official Leica web-site enter it and it will advise as to date of manufacturing. Lots of luck and enjoy it.

  10. Actually for those of us who are Leica rookies, the equipment info. is very helpful. It has given me examples as to perspectives of the different lenses and there signatures. It helps me in my ideas as to purchases of future lenses. Love the info. and hope everyone would do it so more learning can take place.
  11. Sometime ago i was given an M3 DS w50/2.0DR, with eyes. The lens of course was a victim of extreme haze and fog. The set was sent to S. Krauter of Golden Touch. A couple of weeks ago it returned. I, like you then understood the Excellence of Leica. After collecting and using over 60 cameras and lenses of many brands, I've come to the conclusion that their is really only one camera, The M3 DS and the 50/2.0DR. I know call it "The Crown's Jewel " and will sell all other 'gems" I have. Greetings from New Orleans, Manuel de la Rua
  12. Every day I look forward to reading this Forum. Can't quantify

how much I've enjoyed and learned. What Iam often confused about is

the poor quality of the great photos posted. Is it my monitor or is

it the scanners people use? I always expected superior quality

    considering the camera/lenses used.

  13. Tony, every Leica lens book I've ever seen IS a work of art. The last one I got did provide the lens info used for each picture. If not it was on the page of lens that was been shown. I requested one from Leica when they notified me of its availability. Did you have to pay $10.00USD for it? At that price I can't see how they can even cover publication cost Cheers, Manuel
