How can one take a photo of the Eiffel tower that hasn't been done
1,000 times before? This is my attempt. Can you guess how I did it?
-
I wish I could upload larger photos to photo.net. Especially
panoramas, which just aren't done justice at this small size. I had
low confidence that this panorama would come out well since I shot
it freehand, 1/4 second exposures, and the camera was so close to
the balcony rail (which makes it hard to stitch together the
images). Any thoughts?

This was a quick photo, one of many photos this night. A friend and
I spent the whole day in Tokyo and when I reviewed the photos I took
that day, this one jumped out at me as one I really liked. Since it
was not a carefully planned shot, I feel it could be improved.
Perhaps cropped differently or taken so as not to include the near
building in the upper right corner. Any thoughts?

Excellent idea. Hey, I go to school in Dearborn, Michigan. Hows that for a coincidence.

Fisheyes are great, the photos practically take themselves.
-
This is great. Was it done with two fisheye images?
-
Funny, I laughed when I saw it. "Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!"

I called it "vase" because it reminded me of an old optical illusion in which there was an image that looked like either a vase or two faces.

I took this photo a while ago while just doing random
experimentation. I liked how it came out, but there was some junk in
the background that would be hard to remove with Photoshop due to
partially transparent objects. Ive finally decided to simply crop
out most of that junk, and the little bit that remained was easily
removed.

Get closer, show less or none of the faucet, and make the background either so out of focus that it's indistinct or make it a solid color.
-
The cliffs on the right side show up pretty dark on my monitor. But the real subject, the water, shows up nicely. The detail in the water is excellent, and its a very cool photo.
-
Interesting idea, perhaps it would be better if the background were all black or a blank wall or something. Also, you may want to consider displaying the photo on the monitor full screen without all the icons and such.
-
How about this version?
-
The reflection in the window is a pitty, but I don't think there is anything you could have done about that. Nice shot anyway.
-
I like the way you cant see the bottom of the pool. It makes is look like it goes on forever. This is a cool shot.

Quite an expression this guys got!

This is a rare street photo that is interesting and has lots to look at. No one seems to notice the camera; they are therefore acting natural. This is exactly what you want in a street photo. The bottom of the beer bottle is irrelevant in my opinion.
-
How did you manage to keep the camera so still for so long?
-
Near the foot/knee of the man, it appears we are looking down at the floor (i.e. the camera is a couple feet off the ground tilted down). But at the base of the angel, it appears we are looking nearly parallel to the floor (i.e. the camera is closer to the ground and looking horizontal). Is this a composite photo, or some kind of weird parallax effect that I cant envision? Is this why we dont see the shadow of the angel?
These details aside, I do like the photo.

It looks like the moon at a glance, but what youre seeing is an overcast sky. The camera was sitting on the ground facing strait up.
I must stress that this is a color image that has not been desaturated. Do you think I should just do away with the little bit of color thats there? I adjusted the levels (the brightness and contrast) but did not change the color. Its just a gray Michigan day.

This is very similar to what Robert Alvarez has done.
-
Very cool. I can't think of any way to improve upon this.
