  1. Dear Rolleiflex Users,

I am new to using a Rolleiflex and enjoy using it. After looking at my pictures

(very limited amount) and looking at others at flicker or through the internet,

it would seem to be that the 'better' pictures are mostly in B&W. I feel that

pictures taken in B&W have greater contrast and are better able to create mood

or stir feelings about the images taken. I am wondering if this is just me?

  2. HI there,

Just out of curiosity, is this camera in Japan? Where did you buy this piece of art? Based on the magazine you used as a backdrop, there might be a Japan connection somewhere? What magazine is it? I wouldn't mind reading it as well?

    Cheers,

    Nick

  3. Hi claude batmanghelidj,

How's your Japanese? You might want to try this place, but they speak only Japanese:

Roi Camera: in Hanno Sun Plaza in Saitama. They are on the Seibu Ikebukuro line (Hanno Station).

    Tel: 042-971-3639

Not sure how much they charge for this service, but they are the place that other shops send Rolleis to, especially after Rollei Japan closed. Turn around time isn't too bad, 10-14 days. I checked with Harry Fleenor and his turn around time just for a CLA was 3.5 months.

    Good luck,

    Nick

  4. Hi Everyone,

An update. Basically, I was afraid to simply turn the shutter dial a little harder at the green zone 2. Then I found myself now in the red zone. Now off to shot a test roll.

Thank you for your input and help.

    Regards,

    Nick

  5. Dear photo.net members,

A thought came to mind while thinking about this problem. Since I have a camera stuck in the green zone and does not have the button to uncouple it, I wondered could it be because I am trying to play with the shutter/aperture combination while I have no film in the camera? Does this factor make a difference?

    Thanks,

    Nick

  6. Dear CPeter Jørgensen,

It looks like I have the one that looks like the attached 2.8 version and my problem lies elsewhere. Will be taking it into a repair shop today and have it looked at. I'm hoping it does not cost another arm or leg to repair 'cos I wait be able to take pictures if it does. Now 7 just have to laugh at myself trying to turn a wheel that did not exist.

    Dear Alvin Hear,

thanks for the link. I found the manual, but it had no reference to uncoupling the shutter and aperture, but it did clearly state the difference between the red and green scales.

Thank you all for your help especially at this time of year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

    Nick

  7. Dear CPeter Jørgensen,

Thank you for this rresponse. After posting this and doing further internet search I found this link (http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=002DEf) in which this same problem was discussed. Unfortunately, I can't find this button. I mean I know where it is physically, but it does not move enough to inidicate that it is a button, nor does it change the characteristics of meter. I'm sure that this is a camera that works and so does the meter. maybe this is part of the problem with a coupled system. I just find it strange that I cannot turn it off easily. I may just have to take it into a repair shop and have it looked at.

    Regards and Merry Christmas,

    Nick

  8. Merry Christmas Everyone,

Just recieved a Rolleiflex 3.5F for Christmas and played with it for a while.

However, I cannot freely adjust the shutter speed. It appears that my range is

limited to the green zone of 1/2 to 1/60 and this range seems to be coupled to

a range of apertures as well. There is some resistance and the shutter and

aperture seem to be in sync or in gear. Basically, I cannot freely set any

shutter-aperture combination I want. In my Yashica 124, I can do this. Is this

normal with 3.5F series? How can I 'set' the camera so that I can freely set

the aperture and shutter independently of each other?

    Regards,

    Nick
