I am off the iPad and on a Mac. I can view the site now. Nice design. Simple and to the point. My complaint other than you can't view on iPad is the arrow buttons keep moving when you browse the photos. I find this annoying on any site. Nice photos. All the best, DMc

I will be loosing the ability to host my site on my iDisk thru Apple in June. I am looking to remove the flash from my site (Rrapidweaver) and need another host. Any suggestions? Zenfolio seems to be mentioned a lot on this site but those sites seem to be slow loading. Would fellow photo.net members give me examples of sites and suggestions for my own. www.DMacDzigns.com Thanks, DMc

I think some of the current headings could be changed or combined.
Pets, Birds and Insects could be combined to be Animals & Insects. This would encompass all non-human living creatures.
Portraits could contain all human photographs, adults, children and studio except nudes. Nudes, I think, should still be in a class of their own.
The nature heading could encompass flowers, plants, natural landscapes.
A Transportation heading could combine automobiles, planes, boats, bikes, and motorcycles of all sorts.
A B&W fine art category would be a nice addition for those that appreciate the fine art of Black & White Photography.
The Macro category is a must, as I feel, Macro Photographers need to stand out as the art is most challenging. Even though photos in this category could easily fit into other categories, I think it is a nice addition to the site.
Just some random thoughts but what ever the choice, please alphabetize the list for ease of use and give the user a definition of the category. This might be obvious to some but I think there is some confusion, especially among new users to the site, as where to list their photo. Example, where do you put a photograph of a lion you photographed at a zoo? Pets... No, Wildlife.... not really since it wasn't in the wild. Nature... again, No. You get the idea.
Thanks for your time. DMc

It looks as if the photographer used the lens to achieve the effect rather than Photoshop. If I was to guess I would say he rotated the lens as he pressed the shutter. I've experimented with this some and like the effect. I'm no Photoshop expert but I am unaware of an option to achieve the same effect in the program. DMc

Thanks Fred for your insightful comment. I also read your forum question and believe some of my photos fit in with your examples. When all things are equal and some photos are not appearing I too question if there is a PN programing problem or some "Office Politics" perhaps I am not aware of. I feel it very educational to browse the top photos but, as you pointed out, the list is shorter than it once was. Again, thanks Fred for your comments. When I get home tonight I will devote some time to your portfolio as well.

Thanks Michael, guess that explains a lot. I upload a complete series of photos and only request one or two critiques a day so the dates are too old. Also, the fact that most of my post go unnoticed, sometimes only getting one view let along ratings..... I have no chance.
I make a point to rate / critique photos with every request I make. I wish others would do the same. I use it as a learning tool for my journey in this world of photography and getting a response sure does help the process.
Thanks again, DMc

How does PN determine which photos make Top-New Photos / Top-Rated Photos? I have posted photos that receive ratings equivalent to those selected for the honor of the top photo section, yet my photos don't make the cut. I am not in any way suggesting I deserve to be there and others not. I am an amateur. I feel my photography skills have much improved over the years, due in part to this site, but my photos are still a long way from being the quality of most other posters here. But when all things are equal an my photos don't appear I wonder what I am doing wrong. Thanks, DMc
