  1. I have the same televeter. The ring does move around when not in use. I don't have the problems that you described. I guess the quick answer would be to make sure the lense in inserted correctly. It shouldn't have to be forced. I put the televerter on the lense then put it all to the camera (Maxxum 4). Just the way I do it. These televerters are really not too bad. My manual focus is smooth, no clicking. Make sure the "dots" are lined up when inserting. I know these are all the things you would have done. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  2. I am going to make the move, probaly after Christmas.

I presently use Minolta Maxxum 4's.

I have been reading up on digitals and think I'll go with the 300D

    Rebel.

Any comments or warnings :) would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  3. Read the manual and find the custom function that allows you to fire the shutter even when the camera doesn't think it is in clear focus. I think it is called shutter prority. I use Maxxum 4's so the funtion number may be different than what I use. The manual will tell you how to change the function. If it fires than and it didn't before you may have been trying to fire with too little light. To make sure that all is working use a well lighted room or bright light on the subject. be sure to push the little button with the "P" on it before shooting. This will get you into complete auto.

  4. In my earlier post I told how my Maxxum 4 (both of them) prematurely

rewinds the film when using a new Kodak Flash (for Maxxum) I

    purchased.

I emailed Kodak and their response was one they called "pre-mature

rewind due to not loading film correctly." They said that even

loading a quarter of an inch past the load mark can cause this.

It only happens with this flash attached.

Any truth to this or smoke blowing?

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  5. Hmmmm.. Tell me, when you take off all the lens, with the fuction set at firing the shutter when no lens attached at all, does it fire? It should.

    Dennis

P.S. Make sure another function, that lets you fire the shutter even when the camera thinks you are not in focus is set to this.

  6. I bought a Kodak Flash, it says for the Maxxum. I have 2 Maxxum 4's.

When I use the flash the film rewinds when just about half done.

This happens on both Maxxum 4's. Kodak says not their fault, Minolta

says not responsible for a third party flash but would check out the

camera to make sure it is working correctly.

I tried every settign I could. Starting to think I should get a

    Minolta Flash.

    Any ideas or comments!!

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  7. I will try to help, or not. I believe the close up lens was screwed on to the macro lens just to keep the close up lens handy. Who ever had it didn't want to lose it so they screwed it on to the macro. The close up lens screws into the front of any lens that it fits. If the close up lens is, for example, a 55 MM (wide that is, should say it on the lens), then it screws on to the front of any lens that is also 55MM wide. This lets you focus closer to the subject, say a flower. The close up lens should have a number on it such as +1, +2 etc. The bigger the number the close you can get to the subject.

The ultra wide macro lens, I believe, is just a larger close up lens. It should srew into the front of any lens that it fits. I am basing this on the picture you supplied. I can't see the back of the macro lens.

You can make any size close up lens fit on any size lens using a step-up or step-down ring. As an example, if the close up lens says it is 55MM, and the regular lens you use says it is 49MM, then you would need a 49-55MM step up ring. The 49MM side, of the step-up ring, screws into you regular lens. The close up lens then screw into the other side which is 55MM. These are readily available on Ebay, where I bought mine.

Remember that the sizes here are wide sizes. An example would be that the lens you use is a 28-200 MM zoom lens, there will also be another number on the lens such as 55mm or 49MM. The is the width of the lens.

    Hope this helped!

  8. I had the same problem with a 500MM Maxxum Muont lens I bought from Ebay. The shutter wouldn't fire. I decided it was because a maxxum mount lens is not a AF Lens. If you teleconverter is not a Maxxum Autofocus Teleconverter then your camera doesn't know there is even a lens on it. Easy fix. In the functions, I have a Maxxum 4 so the numbers are different, find the function that lets you fire the shutter even when you don't have a lens on the camera. You will have to manual focus but the camera should fire when you "pull" the trigger. I leave my camera in this mode, it doesn't hurt anything and I can put the 500MM maunual lens on without think about it.
  9. I am sorry if this isn't allowed here.

I am forced to sell of some of my old and vintage

    camera collection.

My sale of the 2 C-3's ends on Ebay today.

I am asking $17 plus shipping.

If you want to look the search item # is 2954094287

Both are great working cameras. One is really clean!

    Thanks,

    Barnnie

Again, if not allowed I won't do it again.

  10. My SRT201 is taking great pictures, especially close ups.

A piece of what looks like spong instulation suddenly shows up in the

view finder. I found that it is in the top where the actual

viewfinder is and not not included in the photos. It is not near the

focus center when looking through and I could live with it.

My question is, should I just live with it or is there an easy fix,

    or no fix at all?

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  11. I did just about everything that was suggested to.<BR> Bought the

batteries, the "O" ring and all the other great help.<BR> Went down

to ALKI Beach to take my first shots today.<BR> You can see them if

you wish and they are all open for comments. I only have a 50MM MD

lens so far so I couldn't do any zoom. The close up lenses for my

Maxxum are the same size so I took them along. All photos using the

50MM with no filters except where Close Up is noted.<P>Again, thanks

    for everything!<BR>

  12. I am over whelmed by all the help I have received here at Photo.net.

Because of you I got the meter working, but of course I just lost a good excuse for bad pictures! :)

    Thanks again!

  13. Have becime the owner of a Minolta SRT 201. Works pretty good and

looks like fun. Some help needed...

    1) Can't use the meter as the battery is no longer available, it was

    a mercury battery... there fore

    2) need to take pictures from the seat of my pants. Was looking for

suggestions on setting F-stop/Shutter speed. Heard of the sunny 16

method. Not sure what it is. Comments?

    3) I was thinking of a light meter but never used one or even know

how they work. I also have a maxxum 4 setup but the SRT looks like

fun. I would only use it in day light, no flash.

Thanks in advance for any help and for all the help I have received

    here in the past!

  14. I have a Maxxum 4. I am looking into purchasing and older Maxxum 7000.

    My questions are:

Do all Maxxum Lens fit all maxxums? My MAX4 lens will fit MAX7000?

I notice a lot of places list lens as "for Minolta AF", does this

    mean the Maxxum cameras also?

Thanks for any help you can give me on this!
