  1. Very nice light and colors, and I think I like how you defy the "rules" of composition and put the horizon almost in the dead center. However, I think the picture suffers from an empty foreground, especially in the lower left, shady areas.

Very good use of the ultra wide angle of view, interesting composition, without a boring foreground (which is an all too common mistake to make with these lenses). I like the tonality too, with enough detail everywhere, while maintaining its "snappiness".

  2. Very nice composition, and the strong contrast creates a powerful shot. I personally would like to see just a little more detail in the blacks of the coat and the bird's head.

Reminds me of my recent years in the northwestern border areas of China.

I agree completely with a previous critique. Very nice simplistic composition, strong combination of colors, but perhaps a slightly empty foreground. Having the person and the animals closer on the road would have helped.

Very nice tones and composition, but I am also not fond of the halo. I usually get this by overdoing the highlight adjustment in the shadow/highlight function of Photoshop.

I like the expression and lighting of this shot, as for composition, perhaps I would have placed the model slightly further right. It looks like the picture was cropped, not sure which side, but I would experiment with different crops to make it even better.

If you don't mind, I would like to make a negative comment about the quality of the picture. Not sure if it is jpeg artifacts or noise, but the image quality is not too appealing, and it is especially noticeable in the area of the model's legs. Maybe a higher quality jpeg compression could solve much of it.

  3. I would not put it so harshly as Will, but I agree that this is not an example of a good HDR image. I was not even sure what all the spots were in the sky, but they are very distracting. The sky is blurred, looks like the clouds moved quite a bit between the exposures. Highlights are blown and shadows lack detail, which defeats the purpose of HDR. I am not saying I would have done better in the same situation, I'm just stating that the flaws are too obvious and distracting. The bottom half looks ok, except for the lack of dynamic range, but the sky just ruins it. I am wondering if it would have been better to just combine two exposures with masking or using a graduated ND filter for a single exposure.

Very well seen and executed. I'm thinking maybe I would like to see slightly more contrast in the trail, but then I wouldn't want to ruin how the ground blends into the sky without a visible horizon.
