Dark and mysterious, or just boring?

Disquieting image reminds of what must go on inside this building
(this is the parliament of the United Kingdom, in case you didn't know...)

Yes, I was lucky the lady was very still. If she had moved by more than a few inches it would have resulted in a lot of motion blur.
I can't remember the exposure time, it was in the region of 20 seconds. I was experimenting with my new tripod :)

I like the lady standing looking at the merry-go-round... some people
step off and watch the rest of the world go round and round. Does the
world remember them?

Mauritius was fascinating... the strong mix of cultures and religions
makes the island colourful and varied. Best holiday I ever had :)

I think it might actually be even better if you could include the *whole* mirror in the frame. You might want to use a slightly smaller mirror though, or Tux won't fill the frame quite so well.

It looks great, but the JPEG artifacts around the moon really let it down badly. Maybe you would consider uploading a slightly less-compressed image?

I really like it. The message of the whole image is all about the "human" feeling. There's nothing to distract you from it. Either the girl is *really* good, or you caught the exact perfect moment to take the shot. Simple and effective - elegant.

Thanks for the encouragement!
The picture *is* compensated for incandescent light - in camera, I try not to manipulate my pictures on the PC. The colours pretty much correspond to how I remember the scene.
The area does look a lot like Trastevere, but is actually some side street my Roman friends lead us through walking back to our car. It was somewhere between Piazza Navona and Via Vittorio Veneto... yes, I know that's a bit broad :)

This is my first upload to photo.net.
Rome is an incredible visual experience, but I found it hard to fuly
convey its atmosphere with a single image - the full atmosphere comes
from everything around you.
This is the closest I got to capturing the "spirit" of Rome - as a
living city, not so much as a place of history and culture. My Roman
friends seemed to agree...
