  1. Huib,

    I have recently had a 24"x32" 200dpi print done from a 5Mp digi image.......stunning!!

I have sharpening in camera turned off, resized the image in PS7 from 14MB to 89MB, and only applied the tiniest (approx 80 at 0.6pix and 0) sharpening to the file.

The print came back from the printers pretty much exactly the same as the file, the numbers on the print being:-

    Y=0 M=0 C=-1 D=-4 Sharpen 200% 5/30

If you can understand the Lambda talk, I think it says "Normal"

I would suggest the moral of the story is if the digi file is perfectly focused, leave it alone, and only apply the smallest amount to "soft" files without introducing any edge artifacts.

    Hope this helps, Doug

  2. To any large-format gurus, I have a Universal back, with ground-

glass, fits Linhof d-d slides and Super Rolex back although upside

down, as the back only goes one-way to allow slide removal, and, in

that orientation, the gun-sight fold-ip viewer is on the other side

    to the wind lever.

Attached to the "inside" ie. emulsion side of the film-

holder/viewer, is a flat machined adapter plate, rectangular to

circular, rivited to which is a circular sleeve, 165mm (6.5") by 70mm

    (2.75").

It came with a Super Technica V, but is too large, and has no

mounting points to be a back-spacer for that camera, so I am very

    curious.

It came in a box, the correct size I might add, that has Beseler

all over the lid, and a small label on the side that says "Beseler

Neg Carrier cat no 2040" but it certainly is not that. It looks

like it could be a copy attachment, but as I said, at 165mm, and a

plain finished edge like a cafe tin, I dont know what it fits. Oh,

and it is all either crackle or flat black.

Any thoughts appreciated, cheers, Doug in OZ

  3. For a standard image angle, I was completely satisfied with the Rodenstock Sironar 300 1:5.6 with Fuji Velvia 50 or Provia 100.

For landscaping in Oz, I also found, with these emulsions, no need for a UV filter thus not compromising the lens.

    Cheers, DougF.

  4. Hello there,

I have just found an old Super Technika V, complete with original Linhof "Certificate of Ownership". The serial number matches the number stamped on the flat of the accessory shoe.

Can anyone give me an idea of its production date.

    The number is 2161120

    Many thanks, Doug Fothergill
