    Hi Lex, so you've noticed it too! It's funny but I've always used this photo in other forums to show how the 105/2.8 AF-micro behaves as far as 'bokeh' is concerned. This one's not too bad, but it's a bit jarring nonetheless.

    Thanks for the comments. Deepak, you got it, it was done through multiple exposures, a technique described in many basic photography books. However, I exposed the same frame 4 times, two in focus and two out of focus with camera fixed on tripod. Each frame was 2 stops underexposed. If you're going to try it, I suggest using your DOF preview button to check your out-of-focus rendering at your chosen aperture since it's quite different from what you see without the preview.
