Hey Hanna, Thanks for your interest. Its actually much more simple than that. This is a metal statue/sculpture on campus where i went to university. I filled the frame with the statue and shot through the "hole". I have another one that Ill put up for you soon to show you (but its not as good imo)
  1. That looks really cool how the antlers are lit. Can you explain to me how this light pen technique works? Im picturing you pointing a flashlight at it during a long exposure. Am I way off? Or is that basically the technique?
  2. Thanks again Gordon for all your feedback. Me and my beginner eye thought that the jet trails pointed to the subject, but your comment helps me to realize that they are a little distracting. Thanks again!

Thanks for the great idea Gordon. I love feedback like that because it gives me ideas that i can incorporate into other situations I might encounter in the future. Thanks so much. I was on travel when I took that shot, so I'll likely not have a chance to try it out and see what it looks like. If anyone else wants to try it though, this spot is behind the "stem gem" boulder in the Hidden Valley Campground. Any climber can point u in the right direction.
  3. Wow, thanks for the positive feedback! The image is pretty heavily cropped. That's about 1/3 of the original image so I was already pretty far away. I was standing on the highest sand dune on the East Coast, so all that was in the foreground was a whole bunch of sand dune taking attention away from the church. I didnt try any other angles. Im just starting out so ideas like this are really appreciated as I will try more angles in the future when Im out shooting. Thanks again.
