Hi,
I've got four PL1250 monolights with the standard tubes. I'm using them for digital photography. Their color temperature seems to be 4700-5000K. But the color cast in the studio setting is influenced somewhat by the strobe power being used and backdrop color. Just shoot a gray card each time your scene changes significantly and use that to correct your color. I'm assuming you will scan your color negs for retouching and printing.
However, I'm having a terrible time with the Photogenic monolights misfiring. They will not always fire when I want to take a shot. I've been in contact with the manufacturer but haven't gotten any resolution. It was so bad at the beginning of a shoot recently I thought the model was going to pack up and leave in exasperation. I'll be posting a call for help here myself.

I want an external flash for my E-20. It looks like the recommended
FL-40 is out of production. (I know- Best Buy...) What's a good
replacement?

Two of the strobes I have are firmware version 08. These need an
upgrade. I am using them strictly as slaves. Two are version 09
which is the latest, I'm told. I have employed power strips that are
supposed to suppress EMI/RFI. I have tried another camera and my
Seconic Flashmaster L-358 and have the sync problem with each. I
have four sync cables and a sync cable the manufacturer sent me to
check this problem out.
This can't be happening! Any suggestions?
