For all curious about this very photogenic "object":
it is not that big, and most propably used as pulley or wrench for lifting baskets with fish from little boats. It is fixed on a landing-stage at the beach of Bakau, Gambia, near the fish-auction, and, as almost everything in Gambia, about to collapse or already collapsed.....
