    Stripped

Couldn't agree with your comments more - this was definitely an exercise in PS manipulation more than anything else. I think I have mentioned it in the past, but I am not a huge fan of digitally manipulated images. However, I figure I should start to understand it a little better for potential future use.

    Cheers!

  1. Dear Tony and Elaine,

Thanks for your kind comments! Tony, I didn't really stick to this single rose once the fly took off. Would have been kinda cute to have a side-by-side with and without fly - or is that overkill =8^)

Again, thanks for the comments folks!

  2. Hiya Andrew - thanks for the comment! As for the Minolta scanner, if it's anything like the Dimage II, I highly recommend it! I understand there's dust removal technique with the Dimage III - a great addition. Overall, price/performance ratio is excellent.

    Hope this is helpful!

    Cheers!!

  3. Clayton, Deane and David,

Thanks so much for the comments! I didn't think I would take home any prizes for originality, but these flowers were so beautiful and the morning sun offered such a great ambient light source. To me, they looked as if they were in a bouquet!

    Thanks again!

  4. Sridhar, thanks for your comment! I am actually just exprimenting with PS as I have alwys been a strict "no manipulation" kind of photographer. But I thought I might try and breathe a little life into some old pictures.

    Cheers!

    Standing Stones

The entire image looks a little unsharp to me - maybe my monitor, but seems a bit flat, except for the blue sky and clouds. Otherwise a pleasing scene.

  5. Ah, I wish the sky had been a brighter shade of blue, but overall, this is a really neat image. I like the textures here. It's almost as if it could be flipped upside down and still make perfect optical sense. Really nice!

    The compass

Hmmmm, strange image. Certainly creepy! This is highly original, but it's not super stimulating for me. Maybe I need to know the circumstances surrounding the subject.

  6. I believe I have oversharpened this image, but I am looking for ideas and thoughts on

the basic concept - stripping out the background and foreground color after

manipulating the main subject. I am revisiting this image after several weeks.

    Thanks!

Ahhhhhhhh - beautiful! Well done and definitely a photo I would place on one of my walls at home (the ultimate test of a photo's worth) =8^)

    Seriously, this is lovely!

    Solitude!!

Ancient, timeless, weathered - words that come to mind when I look at this tree clinging to the incline. Years of wind, snow and rain, and while the tree may not be healthy, or even alive, it still clings to the earth in a stubborn fashion - a picture that tells a story! Thanks for sharing it.

    Very Good Work!

    Hop In

Woo-hoo! Excellent job all around. This is a smart, sharp, image that puts the 'rrrrr' in rrrretro! I'm not sure what that means exactly, but I was inspired by the colors of this awesome interior. Sharp, rich, eye-catching, well-composed, and it makes me want to see it all 0 and take a drive.

    Congrats!

Great colors - this is a very cool and relaxing image. The colors combined with the typically general gradients makes for a soothing scene. Good work!

Good action shot! Nicely done for sure. Everything works to my eye, except the lower left of the frame in which there is a bluish mass. Crop it out? Maybe, but not a big deal at all - this is really well done. Thanks for sharing!

    Bass sketch #2

Interesting - still pondering this one - I seem to recall watching one of the modern masters of painting working on something that looked like this (not in subject, but style). Yup, I like it...simple lines, subject and message - to the point and well executed!

Why do I like this image? I suppose it's the simplicity of the composition and the color of the square. The only thing that sets me to thinking really hard about this is the dark spot in the upper left of the yellow square - thinking too much? Probably am, but nevertheless, I like it!
