I reshot this using the lens wide open and stopped down a bit, and I'm not sure I prefer the results. Maybe cutters would have been the only way to improve it. Thanks for your comment.

I had never used the 10D at ISO 3200 before this series of shots. AF
failed in the low light, so I used MF set to infinity and partial
metering set on the beams of light; hence the Empire State and
Chrysler buildings' lights were overexposed. Neat Image cleared out
the noise at the cost of some sharpness, another necessity to get the
capture. I didn't want to crop the foreground because that would have
removed what I think is special about this shot.
Comments? Thanks for looking.

The thought did cross my mind, but my argument for staying legal (the
fence was insurmountable without a cherry-picker or a very long
ladder) was that I should show viewers my impression of the scene and
let them read into the shot what they will. And given the various
intrusions upon our freedoms these days, a bit of chain-link fence
obstructing an interesting vista may defend its presence more
eloquently than I can just by being there. Maybe I'm copping out, but
I didn't want to pass this one by, and I think the shot works as is.
Thanks for looking.

Or at least that's what I hoped to achieve. I chose a red cast in the
shadows over cooler blue tones because of the brick buildings and the
long wall on the right that one could almost skate on. So is it a
print, or should I try stamp collecting? Thank you for looking.
