    Yes, that's an extremly import aspect of photography.

    Cartier-Bresson was always very, very nervous when running around on the streets, because he feared that someone with more expensive gear might show up.

    I think the histogram is a better tool nowadays than a hand-held meter.

    As you know, for digital there are different rules and philosophies how to expose (expose to the right, for example). But of course then you would eventually have to postprocess your photos.

  3. Unfortunately correct exposure seems to be very much dependant on the lens. For example the DA 16-45 is famous for underexposing consistently.

    I don't know wether this is a problem of modern lenses (and the electronics involved). Some argue that digital optimized lenses are underexposing more or less by design to avoid blown highlights.

    It seems like the only thing you can do is to "learn" how each lens exposes and compensate accordingly.
