Oh, I forgot: You can get correction lenses for the viewfinder on the FE, if your father wears glasses.

Ian, I strongly recommend the Nikon FE. I bought one new in 1983 when it was discontinued. It is a great camera and has served me well ever since. I have never had it in for repair. There are still some of them around in good condition and cheaper than the FE2. (The FE2 is in my opinion not that much of an improvement!) If the batteries on an FE run out, you can still shoot in manual mode at 1/90 sec. Things to look out for: heavy use and crumbling foam lining inside the body and on the mirror.

OK, thank you for your answers! I managed to open the camera today, and it seems to work OK.

At a flea market I recently gor a Polaroid Pro Pack camera with flash
unit for next to nothing. The camera and flash unit seems to work,
but I can't unfold the camera all the way. As it is made mostly of
plastic, I am afraid of breaking it trying to open it. Anyone have an
idea? Is this type of camera worth the effort at all?

Thank you for your answers. My lens was also "rough" for a few minutes before it got stuck, and by the sound of it, I have a feeling it is grit.

OK, thanks for your answers. I will take the lens to a repairman, as my experience ia limited to older bellows cameras and I do not want to ruin the lens.

I have a Polaroid 600 SE with the standard Mamiya 127 mm f 4,7 lens
in near mint condition. Suddenly, the focus ring / helical mount got
completely stuck and I am unable to focus. The lens and shutter is
fine. Has anyone had a similar experience? I have done a little
restoring and repair on older cameras, but I have a feeling this
problem is for a pro repairman. Am I right?

I have two Tamron Adaptall 2 lenses that I use on my Nikon and Pentax
bodies, but some time ago I got two Praktica 42 mm screw thread
bodies with defect lenses for free. My question is: is there a Tamron
Adaptall 2 adapter for 42mm screw thread? And if there is not, is
there an older adapter that will work?

Thank you for your answer.

The shutter is a primitive behind-the-lens type consisting of two sliding steel blades. The outside lever that cocks the mechanism is clearly marked ARMÉ.

I have recently bought a 9x12 camera. It is a box camera that holds a
number of glass plates, which are "flipped over" when exposed. The
camera is covered in brown leather, length 24cm, height 20cm, width
11,5 cm. It has nickel plated brass fittings, unmarked lens
adjustable for range/focus, two spirit leves, two bright finders.
There is a keyhole(!) at the rear to lock the backplate. It has small
damages and is somewhat worn.
The interesting feature on this camera is that it has a white label
saying "Amatør-Fotografen ved Enna København" which in Danish
means "The Amateur-Photographer by Enna Copenhagen", but the lever
that cocks the shutter is stamped "Armé". The shutter can be set to
bulb which is marked "P" and regular which is marked "I". Could this
mean that the camera was perhaps manufactured in France and then
imported to Denmark, labelled and sold by Enna in Copenhagen?
From what i already know about antique cameras I would date it to
1890-1900, but It would be interesting to hear more regarding
history, age, value.

I have a Polaroid 600SE and want to shoot rollfilm with it. At the
moment, I only have a 6x6 enlarger, but in time I would be interested
in doing 6x9. Can anyone please tell me if there exists a multiformat
rollfilm back fitting the M adapter for the 600SE, enabling me to get
both 6x6 and 6x9 and in what price range? I am also interested in DIY
projects...

I live in Denmark and recently got a Polaroid 600SE with 127mm lens
in good condition for 998,- Dkr (ca. 140 USD). I know that with an M
adapter, I can shoot 120 films, but does anyone have experience with
adapting the 600SE to 9x12cm or 4x5"? As I am on a budget, I would
like to hear about any DIY projects related to the 600SE.
Does a roll film- or 4x5 conversion affect infinity focus on the lens
and rangefinder? Is infinity focus possible with 4x5? Is it possible
to do a 4x5 conversion with back movements?
I have read some answers at photo.net written by a guy named Anthony
Sansone, but I cannot find his website.

I agree with the above advice. Ask yourself how close you want to go for macro when shooting animals. But when you specifically mention macro, I suppuse you think of insects or smaller animals.
I can certainly recommend the Tamron SP 90mm 2.8 macro AF, which is quite reasonably priced both used and new. I have used one intensively for three to four years for insects and general tabletop photography of small items, even portraits too. Very, very SHARP and good value. Should exist for Nikon AF mount. Mine is Minolta mount used on Sony A7ii a great combo. Nikon D200 is APSC format so the tamron 90 mm will really be something like 120mm, but this is also greal for insects and animals. The D200 is a great camera by the way, I used one for macro and portraiture before I went Sony. Great skin tones.
