Hi. I've been experimenting with converting color into black and
white using the Channel Mixer in Photoshop. In this case, I wanted
my daughter's deep blue eyes to really stand out in the picture so
much of the final is from the red channel.
Suggestions on other methods for converting to B&W much appreciated!

Interesting how the crop has different clouds, off the top of the frame, reflecting in the water below. I had to think about it. Nice colors.

I like the diagonal but think I might like it more without you :) Sorry!
-
The area where the wings meet the body on this fellow looks pretty interesting. Wish he (she?) was more centered in frame.
-
The woman is interesting but the hulking door behind her and the stone column on the left are definitely not. Tighter crop would work better for me.

Really nice! Nice DOF with the eyes razor sharp.

I would have guessed sunset were it not for the caption. I find the leaves at the top a little distracting. The contrast between the blue sky up high and bright orange glow below is nice.

I really like the vivid colors. Too bad you couldn't get the blonde mohawk lining up with the yellow stripe in the flag :)

Great range, nice sharp buildings. I love it!

This one feels a little washed out to me, especially when compared to some the excellent shots in the link you posted. The colors aren't nearly as vivid as what I've seen in other shots of these canyons.
I've read, though, that capturing these is a real challenge given the huge range in lighting. Nice try!

Maybe a little too blurry in the background? The stalk on the left seems to be floating.

Nice - I like the depth of field. We have similar snails in my neck of the wood and I'm always snapping portraits. Underappreciated subjects, I think :) Two of mine below.

I think this one would look great in black and white. Neat photo!

Wow. Awesome capture - the colors are really varied. Too bad there's so much noise in the foreground. I like the crop. Rain and dark coming from the left toward the bright orange on the right. Nice!

This is an awesome picture! Very ominious and foreboding sky behind an equally dark and ominous building.

Love the composition. It almost looks like they're all admiring the lovely stump :)

Reminds me of a nautilus shell. Wish I could see more detail on the staircase on the left. Nice work!

The roses are in bloom and begging for pictures, even if a little cliched. The sun was peeking through the leaves of the trees near this rose and I loved the texture of the petals.
I'm curious if anyone has suggestions on the crop? Here's the full frame for reference.
Thanks!

I really like the balance between dead, brown rust and living, green lichen. Nice shot!

I'm a sucker for baby shots - my website is full of them :) Love the expression on his (?) face. "I played this song just for you..."

Neat that this is from such an old camera. Before I read that I just assumed it was a little washed out :) The text on the side of the film gives it a nice touch.

I like all of the colors. Maybe cropped to just the top 2/3 of the image would make the line of boats more striking?
-
Digitally manipulated? Reminds me of that painting "The Blue Grotto" (the artist escapes me).

You can imagine my surprise when I saw this on my monitor for the first time. The sun was shining from behind the flower, which illuminated the veins in the petals. A slight breeze gave the blur that makes this look almost like a painting to me.

Excellent suggestion, Dainis. Thank you!
I've udpated the image to match.
